I'm sorry, but you must be from that old school definition of MMO... because in today's era, 'massively multiplayer' simply means a large amount of people playing the same game at the same time. Check out ESO which is an MMORPG but is almost all solo content, even though they have dungeons and PvP, none is required for story advancement. Also, most newer MMOs are incorporating a lot of solo play because they know there is a huge number of players that prefer to play solo. Why you ask? Because single-player games are finite, they END... but MMOs go on for years. So you can play the same game for years, with updates, DLCs, etc... unlike a single player game. I'm not a game-hopper, I focus on one game for years at a time... spent two years in DCUO, three years on ESO, and have been in FFXIV for several months.

Did they confirm if they would be able to be used just solo or in small groups? I would dearly love for them to be able to be used in small groups. I play a lot and PUG a lot. My husband doesn't. When I play with him on my alt, we take our time and go at our pace. He's not a rusher. I could get him to play more if he didn't have the experience of being dragged along like a kite constantly when we hit the grouping requirements in MSQ because everyone wants to rush and get through things ASAP. I might even be able to charm him into optional dungeons we could run just he and I. So I hope they do expand this and do make it a situation where the NPCs fill in missing roles so small groups can utilize them as well.

I wouldn't mind the over world after a few months after expansion will be mostly empty of players anyways with mostly gather's in the zone. Open world content is a joke anyways might as well have them /shrugs

I just hope that there is some incentive to standard Duty Finder dungeons over using the Trust system. If there isn't an incentive to group, then DF for Shadowbringers leveling dungeons is going to be dead with massively long queues.

FFXIV isn't particularly massive. It can't even display 50 people doing a FATE or hunt together.

"Massive" refers to total number of people playing online at a time. Not just one server.

The problem is that even if nobody is asking for it, we are going in this direction.

People always get to the fastest way possible to do something, what do you think they will do when choosing between a 15 minutes dps queue and begin a dungeon right away with 3 ais ? Or taking the risk to deal with an underperforming player instead of having 3 bots that will do their jobs better ? For example with the trend of tanks not being able to keep aggro properly because they think more of their dps than something else, i would take the bot tank from the last scholar job quests anytime.

And when you see some players requesting 4 man raids because "it is hard to find enough players at 1 am", i wonder how many time we will have to wait to finally be able to solo end game raids with the trust system XD

Ridiculous straw man, but still even more funny is that I have never visited a Sushi bar that does not sell other things in the menu besides just sushi. From soup and ramen to rice and cooked meats, it's rare that a sushi bar will sell nothing but sushi. But I guess you are the kind that will yell at other tables at sushi bars for ordering the noodles instead of minding your own business.

I just hope Trusts don't end up being overly restricted "only once a day", "only these select dungeons" or anything like that.
I am not sure how you would read my statement as implying i want group content removed.

Anyways, it's irrelevant. The devs added chocobo companions for the open world since, forever. I would much rather have a more interesting companion on world fights than a chocobo. And they also already decided trusts are going to be a thing in duneons, so oposition to the idea is irrelevant.

I'm going to sound like a broken record here, but you obviously do not enjoy multiplayer games. So why go into a multiplayer game if you dislike playing with people so much? There are plenty of fun single player games where you don't have to interact with randoms or anyone at all.
This is a great game with a great story that can be enjoyed, over 90%, solo. I only *need* a party for dungeons, and they tend to help leveling up, but they are not the only way to level up. I also always have the option to do thing with others. Believe me, if i could bring a single or couple of RL friends into Final Fantasy 12 or 13, I would in an instant. Having the option to play with others, not being forced to, is a crucial part why I play these games.
