Tomes of Regional Folklore: How to use?

Wanting to get yellow scrips since reaching 70, I saw that I needed these tomes, So, I spend 2K red scrips for tokens, ground another 500, and bought a Tome of Geological Folklore - Othard.

So, what's next? When I try to USE it, it comes back with the error: "Cannot Execute at this time"
I then tried waiting for a Palladium node to pop in Yanxia, but saw nothing when the time arrived (4:00), and the book was still just generated the error on use. (So, just possessing it does nothing.)

Can someone please tell me how to use this tome?

Using one of the Regional Folklore tomes should consume the book and in return add some additional items/nodes to your gathering log, so that you can find and gather them.

Asked my FC. Turns out that I was trying to use it while mounted. After a dismount, I learned it with no problem.
(Wondering why it couldn't just say "Can't execute while mounted" instead of some cryptic error.. )

And, it turns out that getting the tome was a waste of time and effort anyway. My intent was to access legendary nodes to get yellow scrips to buy gear with them. Unfortunately, with 866 gathering, 979 perception, it takes 3-4 hits just to expose one if these nodes, and by then I don't have enough GP to raise the quality enough, even if I could manage to collect it when done.
It looks like I need yellow scrip gear to collect the nodes that get me yellow scrips.
Giving up on this path. I'll just do the M'naago deliveries every week for the yellows and and gear up that way.

Unfortunately, the scrip gear has no material slots. Crafted gear does, but it's FAR too expensive. I couldn't even afford one HQ piece. I guess I'll have to find what craft makes mining gear and start leveling one.

I was in the same boat a few weeks ago when I first started to want to farm scripts and here is some advice that helped me get more scripts.

1. Accessories (that increase your GP) matter, ALOT when script farming. Try to find, craft, buy a set that pumps your GP into the 600 range ideally, but if you cannot just try to make your GP as high as possible and work with what you have.

2. On unspoiled nodes, the particular thing you are trying to get at is in the SAME SLOT every single time. If you memorize which it is, you don't have to use that one 300 GP skill that reveals hidden items each time.
