I wouldn't worry too much. The data centre splits have just coincided with the usual pre-expansion lull (probably intentionally by SE), where many people are not playing and are waiting for the expansion to drop. It happened during Heavensward before Stormblood dropped.

It'll pick up once Shadowbringers drops.

I wouldn't have been so bothered with the split if it weren't for the fact that Chaos had a lot of times many 72 player Frontline matches happening during prime time. Now the wait time has more than doubled for just 24 player matches.

I just hope the decrease in traffic is just temporary.

Maybe SE are planning to market Shadowbringers even more than what they did for Stormblood so they anticipate a big wave of new players to enter the game. Here's hoping, I guess.
