    The ARR fates are soloable as long as you keep your gear up. I do them by myself for my lower classes. I prefer boss fates actually cause they tend to be faster.

    The exp from HW+ isn't great but the ARR ones are still worth doing, especially if you're leveling DPS and are waiting in queue.

    I do wish they'd increase the EXP for them.

    I was sick of fates well before patch 2.1 hit...and then they just kept getting thrown at us. If they aren't going to make them fun and engaging I would prefer that they let the idea of fates die. At the end of the day I'm not exactly heartbroken that they aren't worth much exp at higher levels.

    Well, if PotD/HoH hasn't killed queue times for dungeons... I doubt that FATEs being relevant would either.

    Increasing their EXP gains would make them more attractive for people to use them to level...

    The question then is... Would it be attractive ENOUGH?

    Given that you can just sit around anywhere and pop yourself into the Duty Finder for a dungeon. Or can just sit in South Shroud/Ruby Sea and queue up for PotD/HoH.

    Meanwhile, effective FATE leveling would require moving around the zone doing FATEs, as well as moving to different zones as you reach certain levels (Made more awkward by expansions having zones last like 1-2 levels as opposed to ARR where zones would last like 4-6 levels making "Trains" more easily found and maintained)

    So yeah...

    FATEs need to give appropriate rewards for the time spent actually doing them.

    But also, there would need to be a reason to actually be in the zone outside of the FATEs.

    Since, I think that's one of the biggest flaws with Eureka. That, unless you're farming FATEs... You don't really have anything else to do. Which makes it kind of dull when you're sat around while people are AoE farming trash mobs trying to get a FATE to actually spawn.

    Like, I recently leveled up a job through SB using the sidequests and it had a much better flow. As I was going around doing these side quests, whenever a FATE popped up nearby (With ToF experience bonus because that's the only time their experience is relevant for how long it takes to solo them >.>) I'd head over and do it.

    It wasn't me going into the zone with the intention of farming FATEs, nor was it me chasing FATE spawns around the map. It was merely, me doing something for progression and having random FATEs be a little detour from what I was originally doing.

    So yeah... I really think that, not only do FATEs need better rewards, but there should also be something that gets people into the zones outside of FATEs (Ideally, something that can be continually done as opposed to MSQ/Side Quest once and done per character)

    I got most of my classes to 50 with fates and had planned on doing the same to 60 and 70, but HW fates give such a small amount of xp it isn't worth the time to do them. I really hope they do something to make fates worth doing again, but I won't hold my breath.

    I liked when in SB you could get that maiden and get +50% exp for FATEs in that area until you left the area. Now it only works for the next FATE and it made them not as enticing anymore. Still, I touch them every so often when I don't feel like HoH.

    These days it's faster just to speed run Palace of the Dead then doing fate grinding. I'm sure there is people out there that would prefer doing fates to get those levels but most people just wants to spam Palace of the Dead now.

    Fates have the dual sin of being unrewarding AND boring.

    Which stinks because good overworld content that encourages spontaneous grouping dramatically helps an MMO. GW2 for example is basically purely about fates and despite not being very deep or well balanced (leveling dungeons are harder than endgame dungeons, no real endgame, ect) it did really well when it was popular because it has highly varied fates that did stuff like change their story to include more stuff with more people, transform some of the characters involved, or split the tasks you were doing.

    Like FFXIV fates are mostly just kill quests. Imagine a fate where one person for every 4 got a magitech armor able to hurt a specific enemy while everyone else protected them from mobs, or someone had to pick up and deliver something that blocked combat while being carried. Even if the rewards were bad people would still do them becaise they break up content and make things feel more varied and less grindy.

    They could make it so that you have a daily fate to complete, much like the roulettes. It would break monotony and who knows, even get you to complete a fate you wouldn't even have thrown a glance.

    They're good for the start of an expansion as something to do while waiting for dungeon and other roulette queues.

    Yes, they could be more rewarding, but at least they're something to do as a DPS (and even level your chocobo to boot).

    Also, the boss ones take way to long to do without a few people. I think they should get a nerf if only 1 or 2 people are actually doing those ones.
    I'd like to see this as well. I want to level all the DPS up eventually, and waiting in a 20-30 min dungeon queue kills the will to do it for me. And, PotD gets old after a while. I'd love to see more ways to level up if at all possible. And, I really miss the FATE-grind runs. They were so much fun back in the day. : ) Stormblood has so many awesome FATES, as well, but no one participates in them which makes doing them solo... a sad time.
