Do maps respawn on existing nodes after you've checked them? If you don't harvest them, you don't get any new ones.
(I just sell the maps I do get, since I found early on that the monsters they spawn are impossible to solo.
It depends on the map.
Some maps are designed to be soloed.
But each expansion also has a map that is designed for 8 players to beat.
It even puts a little indicator in the corner of the map after you decipher it telling you the number of players its balanced for.
Of course, the 8 player maps have the best loot, but the single player maps are soloable.
So when you open one node from a pair it resets and respawns the "oldest" pair. So if youre looking for maps and theyre only giving you the one you dont want you go around the nodes(this works for either map - if you want the soloable gagana and theyre only spawning the group gazelle then you respawn, if you want a gazelle to do with friends or to sell and theyre only spawning gagana then you respawn). You dont have to harvest anything, just opening the node is enough. Check both sets from node a, then check one or both from node b. When you open one of the node c pair the node a's will respawn - this means new chance at better gathering conditions, new chance at hidden materials, new chance at rare materials(like maps as long as you havent harvested one in the last 18 hours). Then opening one from a will reset b, your next b will reset c, and it goes on and on until you find what you want. Respawning ephemeral nodes requires opening one node from two seperate pairs(so a+b a+c or b+c). And as others have said, the ephemeral mats on their own arent really anything special. They primarily exist for aetherial reduction. Reduction(or buying from someone else who does) is the only source for a few crafting mats that are used in a ton of recipes.
In ARR zones, there are 4 nodes in each set, let's call them A B C D. After checking A, you can reset it by checking two of the other nodes, B C D.
In HW and SB zones, there are 3 pairs of nodes in each set, A1 A2 B1 B2 C1 C2. After checking A1, you can reset it by checking one of the B's and one of the C's.
Another thing to be fishing at the nodes for is bonus. Especially when doing collectibles, that "Gathering Attempts +2" is very nice.
