Green mage should be a thing!

Pretty sure most people don't remember this being a class since it was only in 2 games the whole FF history but Green Mage would be so good to include or at least try it!

Just to give more understanding about Green Mage:
Green Mage is a class introduced in FF Tactics A-2. It was for Vieras only and it was a support class that used Hammers and Maces as their primary weapon so basically blunt weapons. In the game they don't actually have any special attacks of their own. They mainly use debuffs and buffs such as basics like shell, blind, protect, silence, sleep, etc.

Now you maybe wondering what could that provide the game at all? Well here's what made me think about it.

There is only one class that uses blunt weapons in this game which is Monk and they have a blunt debuff which I thought could be utilized more and so I thought what other class in Final Fantasy has used blunt weapons? I could only think about Green Mage and Sage truth be told. (You can probably tell by now I am a big fan of tactics) Green Mages stats are also mediocre in all fields but mainly have magic attack as their highest stat even though they can't do anything with it but I thought since they share supportive abilities with WHM maybe they could finally make a Melee Healer out of Green Mage? Maybe they could make a utility dps? or a Utility tank? I don't know but I would prefer another Healer out of it maybe.

What are you guys thought? I know this is bit silly but I just thought about how cool it would be if we got another blunt class and have the power rangers of Mages complete finally.

When I saw the hammer, I thought it would be. Now I'm just scared it'll be a limited healer to go with BLU being a limited caster.

I‘d love them, and even more if they would introduce them with male viera in 6.0 (making a reference to ff tactics as being a viera only job there!)

Green Mage is so useless they don't even count in the halls of colored mages.

Final Fantasy XIV has pretty much absorbed Green Mage into the Scholar Job, just like it has absorbed Time Mage into the Astrologian Job. I highly doubt they would implement a full Green Mage unless they completely overhauled Scholar, which is possible but unlikely. I understand Scholar and Green Mage are not 100% the same thing, but the essence of Green Mage is very apparent with Scholar... their spells are even Green.

I"m all for a hammer job, but not green mage. Green mage's kit was just drawn from things covered by other jobs, there's no point in calling it green mage, and it's not iconic to the series like black/white/red/blue are.

If they would have to basically make up a new kit for green mage they might as well use something else for the hammer job or make up another new job like Gunbreaker.

Long ago, I made a concept for Green Mage as a "trickster" tank; using a sidestep to teleport to a spot right behind a distant target, swinging a massive runed maul around as if it was made of air, having more offensive means of damage mitigation (a.k.a. lowering enemies damage dealt), and even transforming into a Biloko to steadily increase damage dealt with each attack used and steadily reduced damage taken with each hit dealt to them. The inspiration for it came from the runestones and buildings all through the areas in Dravania and wondering how a civilization of people would've lived in Dravania alongside the dragons prior to the Dragonsong War.

Given that devs effectively shot themselves in both feet when it comes to tanks, I could still see Green Mage using a similar trickster-esque theme inspired by the Sprite beast tribe we'll see in Shadowbringers as either a melee DPS (even though we have enough of those) or some sort of caster DPS (which there are better options for right now).

Monk's aren't the only job that use blunt weapons, but they are the only ones who benefit from the debuff. MNK, WHM, BLM, SCH, and SMN all deal blunt damage. Blunt damage users outnumbered the other damage types until HW, where AST and DRK brought the slashing damage uses up to 5 as we'll. Then with SB we got SAM and RDM, who are also slashing. And now with ShBr we are getting GNB and DNC, both of who should be slashing... boy SE sure does love their slashing damage.
