I do believe... At some point Yoshida pointed out that they are purposefully not advertising until 2.0! We'd need to look back though dev posts but there should be a post as well.
Basically, 1.x isn't in a playable state at all, we're all just pretty loyal customers and they're only really going to rpomote the game after it's finished, 2.0

Pretty much, there is no point to advertise pre-2.0. It won't get them any true income. 2.0 I expect them to turn the heat up on the marketing team.
