What makes a good mmo great? Advertise and promote it. We all know how great FFXIV can become. The graphics are cutting edge for a mmo. The storylines that Square Enix incorporate in all their games are in-depth and entertaining. The character models and development are the best there is. Given the rocky start of the game we can still all see how dedicated the development team is and is passionate about their project to succeed. Why arent they advertising? Where is the promotion? We should see this game plastered all over magazines and the television. That's exactly what Blizzard did and look at the results. Server merges wouldn't be necessary if the game is advertised and promoted to the masses. I still get responses from other gamers of "You can play a Final Fantasy game on-line?" It just ain't right.

    Paragraph's please use them.

They aren't advertising 1.X because it was a failure and still kind of is in the eyes of most mmo players.

Yoshi-p did say they plan some PR thing this month I'm not sure if he was talking about 1.21 or 2.0 though.

Cannot advertise a broken game. While it is getting much much better it is still incredibly poor in many areas. The game got a horrific launch, advertising it before 2.0 is not a wise idea. SE has to shock ppl in how good it got, or people will simply not care.

Mass advertise now and you will get ppl to come over who will instantly quit again.

As most of the current content will not carry over to Ver2.0 all their future advertising, beginning with E3, will be focused on that as well as advanced advertising for the PS3.

bas rutten. which makes sense for an MMO touting true action combat.

Ah. . . . I googled him and yeah, for the fans and connaisseurs I suppose it does. Wonder who would be a good FFXIV celeb face to have. Any and all skimpy dressed boobilicious celebrity or unknown girl excluded!!! Hmmm. . . . maybe a skimpy dressed Yoshi-P.

    Stop picturing it!

that's a tough one. i'm sure it would be pretty easy to endorse in japan, but finding a western spokesmodel might prove tricky. they'll probably just advertise on tv with short little commercial clips of cutscene graphics and a little gameplay, and focus primarily on internet media and print for the bulk of their advertising. getting a few major game reviewers to give your project some hype is pretty clutch, especially since FF MMOs have been getting roasted by critics for so long now
