    Why we need a 5 person light party

    Adding a 5th party slot just for a extra dps member would help.

    Main reasons

    Long que times for DPS. Adding in another slot allows more dps get groups faster. Que times going for 30mins into 10mins for DPS.

    Not enough players want to play tanks and healers. Adding more of these roles just temporary helps que times since the majority of these players just play them to get to just level them to max level.

    4 man combat content seems lackluster since mechanics are toned down for 4 players.

    Simple to increase all the enemies in all the trash and boss fights in the game. Which is just roughly 15% more health per mob. 5 man groups were a thing back in ARR with a server que in glitching out. However that 5th slot was completely random extra job.

    That would required an entire rework of the battle system and all dungeons that would allow 5 people. I was a DPS from ARR though SB but finally got tired of 45 min queue times and switched to tank. Now I wait for 3 mins max. It just doesn't seem worth the effort on the part of SE to overhaul so much if the system works fine right now.

    Aren't most queue times long because tanks and healer are in short supply?

    How would adding another DPS slot help? You would then just have one more DPS waiting on a tank/healer...

    Yes it would take them out of the queue, but without the others, they are still waiting, which is the issue your trying to fix...

    Tanking and healing need to be more interesting to get people to queue with them more, then you will see a larger drop in DPS queue times, like you usually do when new tanks and healers are introduced for the first few days of a expansions or jobs release.

    You're not not right that it would shorten DPS queues by... maybe a little bit, but it would be nowhere near the 50% gain one would expect, given that tanks (and to a lesser extent healers) would still act as the bottleneck. An extra person might get in for every tank that queues up for roulettes, but there would still be x-1 DPS on the waiting list, waiting for another tank.

    And also the sheer amount of work they'd have to put in to redesign all dungeons in the game to accommodate it would be beyond ludicrous. I mean, unexpected things have happened... very recently... but none of them involved recalibrating hundreds of encounters, redesigning boss mechanics and most likely recoding some core systems.

    Instead of that, I'd rather they worked on more (and more diverse) healer and tank jobs and let players solve the traffic jam by themselves.

    It wouldn't be 15% more health per mob. It would be closer to 50-75%.

    Also, queues now are during a content lull when many people unsub between expansions, and I still queue into things in under 15 mins as a dps.

    This is hardly a crisis.

    And if you want faster queues, well, you can play a tank or a healer, to alleviate the problem for other DPS

    I don't think the mechanically bare-bones and dull dungeon combat design is born of the party size being 4 members.

    If they implemented this I would be fine with it as long as it was done well.

    Hell the only queues I have that are super long are MSQ and Guildhest as a DPS. Leveling is at max twenty minutes and I just spend that time doing other things with the game audio programmed to ping while I'm tabbed out so I can catch the queue pop.

    Honestly if they were going to retool the entire dungeon system, I'd rather the fifth party member be a dedicated support class.

    Poor healer, they need to heal a tank that doesnt know how to use CDs/play but want a quick que and 3 dps that dont know how to avoid mechanics.
    Instead of DPS getting quick que, healers would quit the game, not to mention those whose already quitted due to lack of healers relates interests contents.
    For tanks it doesnt matter much even you add more DPS, if they act stupid then "You pulled, you tank" , you dont get up then i'll just kick you.

    But again, Roulette is poorly design when it come to classes, what if you get like 3 MNK / 3 SAM for example? that would consumes more time to clear the rou than normal. (Lets add PLD as a Tank lmao)
    What i do right now is just que as WAR with my WHM friend and forget about DPS in roulette because they are not reliable most of the time.
    If it turned out to be 1 tank / 1 healer / 3 dps, i will just ask my friends to go as BLM/SMN/BRD to clear roulette faster and not bothering with normal que at all, which will cause DPS que to be longer, im sure i will not be alone doing this.

    Add Squadron and allow us to solo que would be better idea tbh.

    It wont fix the issue because player base caused issues cannot be fixed by the game developer.

    Aside from every 4 man instance having to be rebalanced for the extra person you seem to fail to realize a noticeable number of the tanks and healers queueing in DF are doing so primarily because of how long the DPS queue usually is. Making this change would just cause a role distribution shift resulting in smaller percentages of active tanks and healers and more people on DPS.
