What if we could "Champion" jobs?

What I mean by this, is what if it was possible to use a max level job to earn experience towards another job?

So, say you have like a level 70 SAM and want to level up a MNK. Instead of trying to slog through level 1-70 (Much of it being dead) on the MNK you could instead continue playing on your SAM after having chosen to "Champion" MNK and earn MNK experience.

The way I see this working, is everything becomes level sync'd experience.

For example, if your MNK is level 5 and you kill a level 70 enemy on your level 70 SAM you'd get MNK experience as if it was a level 5 enemy. If you kill a level 71 enemy as SAM you'd get MNK experience as if it was a level 6 enemy. (Side note: Yes I'm aware that level 5 MNK would be PGL)

This would be the same for quests/duties/PotD/HoH etc.

Thus would inhibit any sort of power leveling shenanigans where you grind out high level dungeons for ridiculous experience gains at levels 1-60, or other such exploitative potentials.

The main downside I see is the whole "But then we get high level players who don't know how to play the jobs!!" though, this isn't a new phenomena given the state of Jump Potions and PotD/HoH spam that often leads players to be wholly unaware on how to play the game...

The other side of things is potentially causing more Tank/Healer players in DF to get fast queues to level up DPS jobs. Though, this isn't necessarily a bad thing given the state of DF queues...

People already not knowing how to play their jobs with things that are currently in the game isn't really a very good argument for why something like that should be implemented. It would only give them yet another way to be completely oblivious of how to play. I also doubt it would get more tanks/healers in the duty finder queues; it'll probably be the opposite, people still playing their DPS classes and getting easy levels for tank/healer without any of the work or stress of playing them.

And I don't know what game you're playing, but content from level 1 to 70 isn't "dead". That makes literally no sense to say everything except endgame has no one playing it. People are always doing dungeons, raids, etc. and running around in early zones. Maybe if you wander around a bit instead of AFKing in Rhalgr's Reach you'd see that.

There's already a high amount of people who're going into raids not knowing how to play their job.

Adding this would increase it even further.

Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.

Up to a certain point, like 15 to get access to levelling roulette, 30 to get the job just as a starting point, or 50 for the wider range of roulettes, maybe. But beyond that I'm not really sure why you would even bother levelling a class if you're not interested in putting the time in. At least with PotD you're learning something, even if it's very little.

And since they do sell the jump potions, I don't see them adding this in the future. We already have an option to "skip" 60 levels (soon to be 70 levels with release of the expansion most likely). It's just the trade off is money instead of time.

And if you really think about it, level at low levels is REALLY fast, especially if you have any of the EXP bonus items.

Considering we have jump potions I doubt this will be implemented. However I do wish there were better incentives for doing leveling content of any kind at max lvl.

A tiered structure where once at max lvl the xp you would normally earn goes into a pool where once you reach a tier pool you get a reward. Rewards could vary as far as hair styles, house items, dyes, or mounts. Would probably revive some older content.

I think this is a good idea but I agree that at 50 a job can't be "championed" because at that point learning how to play the job starts to matter. I also think exp gain should be nerfed not hard but to a noticeable degree to encourage playing that job to level it.

I'm not fond of this idea. Part of leveling a Job is learning how to use it, and leveling is quite simple. Doesn't that kind of devalue your experience while playing?

I'm not a fan of "this part of the game is bad, might as well put this thing in cuz it can't be any worse" ideas.

Challenge for a better tommorow, not a stale yesterday.
