If nothing else, you can spend your poetics on "demicrystals" in Idyllshire, which you can then sell for gil.

Or buy gear and hand it into your GC for seals, which can be spent on things like ventures and glamour prisms.

(Worth mentioning, it's not tombstones but tomestones, as in tome = book. Functionally they seem to be something like an ancient magical USB drive full of information.)


And glamouring is *definitely* worth looking into! If you haven't unlocked it yet, the quest can be done in either Vesper Bay or Mor Dhona. (Also you'll want to unlock dyeing your gear, which I think is only at Vesper Bay.)

You can apply glamours directly using prisms, but it's more worthwhile to play around with the "glamour dresser" at the inn, which will let you set up full costumes that you can apply to your gear all at once.

And - worth mentioning if you hadn't realised - you're able to turn off hats at any time, if you don't want it visible. There should be a button underneath your picture in the Character menu.
