FFXIV already has better character customization than Warcraft

Gw2 also has a robust character creator with different body types, face sliders, and extra body detail customization options depending on race.

I relate FFXIV character customization to Everquest (original) character customization. EQ was and still is the game I compare with for MMO's. EQ's character customization wasn't great, but it was also born in the 90's in the early age of the interwebs. I basically had facial options and body style options. EQ had a lot more variations in races though. You had Iksar (lizard race), high elves, half elves, wood elves, dark elves, gnomes (smart lala's), humans, erudites (darker skinned humans), ogre, troll, dwarf, Vah Shir (buff cat people), Barbarian, froglok (frogs), halfling (hairy footed lala's). On top of this you could choose the alignment of your race. Each race had a select few choices (Good, Evil, Neutral with variations of each). Then you could select a face type, hair type, body type. In the original EQ, your alignment choice affected a lot of choices in the game for you. You could go into certain towns/areas or you would be attacked on sight.
I wish FFXIV had something similar to this, it was fun and actually made home towns mean something. While FFXIV has decent character customization, it could have a lot more associated with lore, and not necessarily looks.

I know I went on a slight tangent, but there are more than just looks that could be customized.
