    /macro

    Just curious~

The /macro command was something added in XI to help people manage the plethora of skills we had in our several sets (and as of the /macro addition, books) of macros. I know that XIV doesn't have nearly as many skills to manage (god, my bard macros were a piece of art in XI. T_T), but I was wondering if it would be possible to add this console command?

I don't know if it would be complicated coding, but if not, it would be a nice, though not necessary, enhancement. A last line I can add to my gear changing macros (which are all in their own row) so that when I change jobs in a hurry (just as an example, sometimes I run Darkhold as THM but CNJ for bosses), I can be sure that my next macro won't be changing me back and resetting all my timers instead of Cura-ing the tank. Just something simple, like...
    /macro [ctrl/alt/all] row [1-5]
(Apologies if this thread already exists, the forum search here doesn't always give me what I want.)

Actually, they will make the macros class/job specific in the future. Which means, once you change class/job, your whole sets of macros will change accordingly as well.

I'm not sure I understand your /macro command too, I either never used it when I was playing FFXI years ago or it simply was not there yet.

It was fairly new.. Macros being job/class-specific will largely fix my issue, this was just a way that (I think) would be easier to code in the short-term.

    Thanks for the info.

Class specific macro's would be annoying in my opinion, mostly due to the fact that I use them to change classes, It'd be a pain to make and change the class changing macro's for every class. (gear updates included, it'd be a bit of a hassle.)
I personally use a controller, so I can only use the macro bar while keeping a shoulder button pressed, so I won't accidentally use it.

Still I suppose if you use your keyboard and macros there might be cases you press ctrl instead of alt or something and use the wrong macro bar.

Unless there is a little option in the macro creation window that stickies the macro in your bar, regardless of the class change.
That could easily solve the problem.

I, too, use some macros for all classes (for example, emote macros).

I just want them to fix it so that macros don't skip lines. So annoying to have to click each equipment macro two times to get all the gear on. It already takes way too much time for a macro with several lines to execute when you press it one time...

Could we... could we just PLEASE get some more macro slots? The current 5+5 rows doesn't cover NEARLY enough of player's needs now ._.

Being a mouse+keyboard player, i find this personally a very awkward situation, as i macro each classes WS'es for control+keys, buffs for alt+keys and keep the rest on the visible bar. Currently, as i have my /equip macroes, i can only keep 4 different jobs macroed fully (read: i can only play 4 jobs). Now, with the addition of new skills, and limiting the skill choices for new jobs, i simply cannot make them work rationally, in any reasonable amount of work.

Other option to work around for this would be a change in the UI, where we can see all the three rows of skills at once, but i don't see that happening before 2.0. To put simply, i really don't want to start scrolling the 3 rows back and forth in order to buff and fire off weapon skills, while i keep dpsing, kiting and binding moogles as an ARC in Thornmarch.

    Agree with this.

Can we please get 20 lines as well instead of 10.

Rather than having a static number (for example 20), it would be better to have new lines being added dynamically when all the existing lines are in use. This way it scales and you can have an infinite amount of macro lines.

Another useful thing would be to allow having the Macro Window open alongside the Equipment Window, and then being able to SHIFT-CLICK an item from an equipment slot and have it automatically add a new macro line with the equip comment for the corresponding equipment slot/item. For example if I have the Paragon's Crown equiped and I would like to get the macro for equiping this item to my head slot, I would simply SHIFT-CLICK my head slot (which has the crown equiped) and it'll inser the /equip line in my macro.

Something else that would be useful is to have the server remember what equipment you had equiped when you switch classes. So when you switch back to a certain class, it will re-equip all the gear you previously had equiped. Similar to how the actionbar works.

Also, +1 for not skipping any lines. I find myself having to press the same macro multiple times, sometimes up to 5 times. It gets annoying and it's unreliable to the point you have to open the equipment menu constantly to check to see if it worked. Ontop of that it is of course annoying, mentioned above, that you have to press 2 separate macro's to get your full gear + accessories swapped. And, the other annoying thing is that it takes so long to switch gear. Why can't it be instant? Please fix all of these usability flaws.

The thing you asked about remembering the equipment will come at a later date, possibly with 2.0. No more need of equipment macros then.
Also, changing equipment is slow because every single thing you do in FFXIV has to be confirmed with the server to prevent cheating.
