Bot/RMT Overflow

I noticed there’s a ridiculous amount of bots / RMT characters on my server (Louisoix). I’m not surprised about level 1 characters who probably get created and deleted on a daily basis, but these are all up to level 50. When I checked, the bots made up like 30% of all players level 1-50.

Is it this bad on every server? And is there any point in going through the trouble of reporting it?

I usually spy a ton of them everyday in Limsa, especially early in the mornings and all level 50 with nonsense names. You can find them easy enough through "player search". RMT salers are a fixture of the game. Players report them and then there are two more to take it's place. I came to the conclusion the bots you see are part of the RMT team. They have to get the gil somewhere don't they? I don't see any quick fix in the near future for what has been going on for many years. Not just in this game, but from the beginnings of MMO's way back when.

You need to remove the image from your post. There's no name and shaming on the forums, even for them. Yes, any server you can create new characters on is plagued with them. I'm fairly sure there's an automated process SE uses that marks them and then they're removed in large batches. They just create more however, as I would assume the process is slow enough that they can still generate a profit in the time it takes SE's system to deactivate the accounts.

Bot/RMT are like bacteria. They can never be fully eliminated, and all SE can do is keep their numbers from growing too great. Left unchecked they would eventually crash the economy. However, if their numbers are controlled to a certain extent they serve a provisional purpose and keep prices from inflating to the point of ridiculous. All we can do as subscribers is not contribute by purchasing gil and gear with our hard earned real life money, and establish an equilibrium of the materials we farm and the materials we purchase off of the MB. That's how I see it.

I noticed some doing what I guess was job quests in Coertas last week. All of them black mages, same equips, same looking character, weird names, exact same movements. There was about 10 of them.
I wish we could get rid of them faster

Are you sure those aren't just a large group of Sea Wolf Roegadyn players on your server?

every MMO has this kind of problem. it exists to fill a need. That need will probably always be there.
