Character Customization Moving Forward into Shadowbringer

Only been waiting since forever to be able to have multiple face paint options. Still no good reason why I can't have makeup + freckles. I know they said it would create more character bloat and thus server issues.. always with server issues.. figure it out already.

If they finish the job on 5.0 adding male Viera and female Ronso. I hope to see this new costume settings that they promise on other reces on 6.0. Don’t need to be on every race at the same time. They could go for the less popular first and it will be fine for me.

When I made my first character I was disappointed with the lack of options for all the races. The whole system is dated and in need of an overhaul, but, if I could just have some more male Hyur (as that's what I went with) faces , I would be contempt.

Longer hair styles, long wavy hairstyles, more hair color options. Actual red lip color and hair color (like the little mermaids hair color)

The ability to use more then one face paint at the same time.

That's one of the few character choices that would directly conflict with lore, unless they changed it somehow, because garleans don't play nice with magic (hence they needed to invent magitek).

Once they finish what they have already done and remove genderlock, then we should start talking about existing races, but before adding more finish what you've already got

I swear they responded to this over a year ago or more. Didnt they say something akin to the more options a character has the more stress it puts on the server memory load or something and thats why they hadnt included any new options beyond that spider face tattoo way-back when....?

The problem with the game and why we don’t have more options is that every character is loaded into the server as something like race=hyur face=4 scarOption=false. The more character creation options are added, the more entries need to be added to each character. This is why hyur and roegadyn have muscle sliders when no one else does, since they’re more basic and don’t have tail/ear sliders.

They said they could add more options, but they would need to turn down the amount of PCs you see on the screen at one time. Maybe after the data center splits they’ll look more into it but at this point I’m not holding my breath.

The reason we don’t have more sliders is part of the above, part of what’s been said before about players making grotesque characters, and partly that the equipment in the game wasn’t meant to be stretched like it is in other MMOs. It would ruin the way the gear looks. That’s also why we’re unlikely to see new body types.

I wish we could have a butt slider but even if we can't, ffxiv is the best mmo i ever played and i've seen worse so i'm happy with what we have!
