It's the other way around; we shouldn't get male viera and female hrothgar (or indeed, female viera and male hrothgar) until we see more customization for the other races.
The problem with the game and why we don’t have more options is that every character is loaded into the server as something like race=hyur face=4 scarOption=false. The more character creation options are added, the more entries need to be added to each character. This is why hyur and roegadyn have muscle sliders when no one else does, since they’re more basic and don’t have tail/ear sliders.I swear they responded to this over a year ago or more. Didnt they say something akin to the more options a character has the more stress it puts on the server memory load or something and thats why they hadnt included any new options beyond that spider face tattoo way-back when....?
They said they could add more options, but they would need to turn down the amount of PCs you see on the screen at one time. Maybe after the data center splits they’ll look more into it but at this point I’m not holding my breath.
The reason we don’t have more sliders is part of the above, part of what’s been said before about players making grotesque characters, and partly that the equipment in the game wasn’t meant to be stretched like it is in other MMOs. It would ruin the way the gear looks. That’s also why we’re unlikely to see new body types.
I wish we could have a butt slider but even if we can't, ffxiv is the best mmo i ever played and i've seen worse so i'm happy with what we have!
I'd like to see more variety in the faces for females of all races. Generally the 4 face options for males are pretty distinct, but the ladies all seem to be subtle tweaks to the same basic face. I'd also like more proper scar options for the them. I had to lose my cool big scar when I swapped my male Roe to a female. The only option looked like a little scratch. A few more short and shaggy hair options would be cool too.
For years I have tried... partially unsuccessfully... to make my main male character look exactly like this:
One day... one day...
"After ten years, finally headed to Sharlayan... absolutely stoked"
1. I would like a crossbreed section that would allow you to edit your preferred race with features of another race such as replacing your Hyur's ears with Elezen or Miqote ears or even Au Ra horns. It would also have an option for Au Ra and Miqote tails, Miqote facial markings and optional Au Ra face and body scales.
2. Faces. Add new faces and repurpose other faces like SE has with some NPCs. Doesn't the Hyur from the anima quest line use a female Au Ra face 1?Ardashir
And one of the thespians NPCs looks like a male hyur that uses a female midlander face.
3. Add a multitude of longer hairstyles and greatly expand on facial hair. Both are severely lacking in FFXIV. While we're on the subject, please add more NPC hairstyles.

As Thefates said earlier, this wouldn't really work with Garlean lore (not being able to use magic), but also that it would be awkward for storytelling when they're "the enemy" - either a lot of things need to be rewritten to acknowledge/explain it, or everyone ignores it entirely.but then again I've said the same thing about a beastlike playable race, and look where we are with that...
It's worth pointing out that the few racial Garlean characters we meet in Eorzea (only Cid, Nero and Lucia, as far as I can remember) tend to keep their third eye concealed so they can pass as Hyuran.
But also, Garleans aren't "just" a Hyuran subrace, because a lot of them use Elezen models instead. They're somewhere inbetween, and for the most part they haven't been created as a functioning race with their own models and animations, but are borrowed from other races. (The notable exceptions being Varis and Zenos, who are apparently fully unique models rather than customisable NPCs.)
Even though they're repurposing other NPC faces for these characters, they're still programmed as unique faces - presumably it's just a shortcut they can use to get started. It's not just a hidden setting that can apply the other NPC's face elements. As far as I can tell from browsing character data, they're not applying Au Ra face #2 with eyes #5 and nose #1, they're applying an all-in-one custom face that is shaped like those elements.
Probably a good indication for what's going on, or at least my guess at it, is the data for the Scions. As far as I can tell, their actual faces use generic settings for that race, but they have the customised Sharlayan tattoos. If you look at their character data, it doesn't reflect the actual settings that create their appearance - everything is left at Face #1 and all the other settings at #1. So I'm guessing they've built the character, transferred the appearance to a custom face (however they do that) and then added the unique tattoos.
Thanks for pointing out Ardashir = Au Ra #1 though. Since I realised that some of the Au Ra faces are reused as unique NPCs, I've been trying to place the rest of them!
And from those screenshots of Hilda, I'm thinking she might have face #3. Was looking at that last night thinking it looked familiar but couldn't place the character... will have to play around with that later. Good reference shots anyway.

Muscle sliders.
I want abs that are visible outside of particular casting animations, lighting and camera angles.
Make lip colors more opaque and less shiny so they actually look like the color I've picked from the chart. I find that if you pick any other skintone besides the palest white, most of the lipstick colors just turn into a muddy brown or a REALLY muted version of the color. Lemme wear vibrant red lipstick!
Also let us pick more than one face paint option at a time. Maybe even make the eye makeup that certain faces have as a "facial feature" option available for ALL faces so we don't have to spend our face paint slot on eyeshadow.
And more long hairstyles please, literally nobody cares about clipping at this point.
+ let us choose our eyebrow color instead of automatically making it the same as the hair.
