old school ffxi players?

so are all the ffxi players spread out or do we have a server or specific linkshells that are out there still running there shells like linkshells and not guild'ish. just wondering if i should be trying to transport to a specific server to get that ffxi feel?

also are there linkshells running like ffxi still or at least plan on it when more real meaty endgame that takes more then 8people are out? have a feeling a lot of shells even the larger ones will sink when anything that takes more the 16people comes out. so if there are really strong linkshells that plan on playing this game for years or ffxiv's life time already out there? lot of shells are gaming communities, they don't last like hnmls's did and kinda what i'm looking for.

I know people in my LS who played FFXI but non of use played it together. Before this game launched I logged back into my old account to see if any of my ffxi friends were sill there. The only ones that were still active decided to stick with that game. There are a lot of people from the phoenix server I lost contact with. I always wondered if they're playing FFXIV somewhere.

Selbina have a big % of ffxi players most of the players i ask them why they join is because it's a FFXI name but really there FFXI in any world.

Only like 2% of our linkshell did not play endgame XI, and I imagine most shells here are the same way.

Selbina always had the XI feel, when other servers whined and whined about there being no groups I flamed the crap out of them for not knowing how to find/create a party not realizing that Selbina just plain has it better than the rest of the servers.

Every PUG I have been in, granted they weren't all perfect, but every PUG has had the XI feel. On selbina when you invite someone to a party you can expect them to stick around until it forms even if it takes an hour +, and then expect them to stay around long enough to make it worthwhile. If they don't they usually find a rep for themselves. Selbinians know party etiquette.

Selbina PUGs moogles, and all other content long before it was cool on other servers.

There are a few bad apples, but there were in XI too. Selbina is the best server in FFXIV by far, and Ridill will be too.

Old school RoZ->CoP era FFXI or bust!

I know... But no one "enjoys" waiting hours for a party to start

I think the XI vet population in XIV is far larger than any other...

FFXI vets are by far some of the most helpful people in FFXIV
There are some who are loud and pretentious but the same can be said for any demographic
Unfortunately... from a business standpoint... you don't want FFXI players to be the majority on a server... because that means you are way less than a million subs total.

Its such a mixed boat... on one hand, I want SE to make a game that completely caters to my play style... nothing wrong with that

On the other I do think they should be allowed to make a game that they think will bring in tons of people... they aren't doing this for kicks, ya know?

And that's where I think the small minority of FFXI vets that are douchebags really give the whole group a bad name....
This small subset that thinks SE should make every aspect of the game to appease them because they've been playing SE MMO's for 8 years
when the truth is... in business... more effort always goes into attracting new customers
