Dark
Description: Dark (ダーク, Dāku?), also known as Darkness, is a recurring, low-level spell in the series. It inflicts minor Dark-elemental damage and is a basic spell much like Fire, Blizzard, Thunder, and Water. It has three upgrades in the form of Darkra, Darkga, and a stronger version in the form of Darkja, which is usually an enemy ability.

Meteor (Comet)
Description: Meteor (メテオ, Meteo?), also known as Meteo, Desolator (ミーティア, Mītia?, lit. Meteor), and Shake, is a recurring spell in the series. Usually one of the strongest spells, it summons a barrage of meteorites to bombard enemies. It either does high non-elemental damage, or hits for mediocre damage multiple times. Meteor's downgraded form is Comet, which sometimes acts as a replacement for Meteor when Meteor is not a usable spell. Meteor is often the Black Magic equivalent and opposite of the Holy spell as the Ultimate Black Magic in games where the spell Flare is not considered as such.

Quake
Description: Quake (クエイク, Kueiku?) is a recurring Black Magic spell in the Final Fantasy series. It usually deals Earth-elemental damage to one or all opponents, and may not affect flying enemies, depending on the game. It has two stronger versions, Quakra and Quaga, and a counterpart exclusive to enemies called Earthquake.

Tornado
Description: Tornado (トルネド, Torunedo?), also known as Weak, Wind, and W Wind, is a recurring spell and ability in the Final Fantasy series. It most often deals strong Wind-elemental damage, but may also reduce targets to single digit health.

Ultima
Description: Ultima (アルテマ, Arutema?) is a recurring spell in the Final Fantasy series. It is almost always the most powerful spell, hitting all enemies for non-elemental damage, often ignoring defense, Reflect and any other protection. With the exception of its debut appearance in Final Fantasy II, Ultima is considered to be Black Magic. Ultima usually manifests as an explosive sphere of blue or green energy that consumes opponents.
