How did you choose your name?

Long story,
I have not settled in this name until half way through 1.0.
Misutoraru is a character from another anime/game. I found it when a friend of mine introduce that anime/game to me and I found out we share the real name from surname to first name.
Since then I have been using misutoraru as my ID in every forum and MMO I play.
However, with such a long first name I struggle to find a surname that fit the lore.
Been changing surename a few times till I settle with Valkyrie in 2.0
I was a Lancer name in 1.0, and it match with starting in Gridania, so I start thinking what would fit being a Lancer and Keeper of the moon. I though Valkyria fit quite perfectly in our culture

Had just finished a yugioh zexal episode where this dude was using a shark themed deck. His ace card, iirc, was Shark Drake Vice.

At the CC screen for my hellsguard femroe, I remember typing the whole thing in but not feeling satisfied with it. Then I tried to go by with naming convention some I called it Vicious Drake except that I was really set on having Shark in my name.

So I tried Vice Shark and it clicked and it felt right. Some names you give, you feel like you settled and you're just waiting for a chance to rename. Well in my case, the thought hasn't crossed my mind at all yet.

I roleplay so my character's name is basically the result of me slamming the refresh button on one of those fantasy/language name generators and seeing what stuck. When I'm playing a non-RP character however I just pick whatever comes to the mind at the time. Be it colors, puns, or what have you. Last time I picked a random name I went with a Mass Effect Planet theme because clearly I don't get out enough.

I'm a fan of Kingdom Hearts, dot.hack//, and Tales of Xillia.

Sora comes from the protagonist of KH. Conveniently it's also the name of Haseo's player character from The World r;1 (think like 1.0 in XIV) in dot.hack//GU.

Maxwell is the name of the omni elemental God from the Tales of Series; in Xillia you play as his mortal avatar, a woman named Milla Maxwell.

So my name is Sora + Haseo + Milla. Sora Maxwell.

I'm Finnish too, TARHA says "Hi!" to ROUTA.
In the Finnish language Miko is a male name, so I can even swap genders with fantasia and not go 100% awkward.
Yaong is Korean for 'meow', this toon was originally a cat girl.
So basically Miko Meow.

As an extra bonus Miko Yaong looks almost like the 15 in a dozen weeaboo names you run into everywhere. I prefer to keep a low profile and not stick out, so that's a good thing, kinda.

When I joined FFXI in 2004 I wanted the name Phoenix but it was taken, as was Fire Bird, so my 18 year old self thought it would be clever to use a Latin translator and ended up with Ignis as a first name. Over the years I've used Ignis plus various surnames for multiple games, and many of my friend prefer to call me Iggy over my real name.

Then FFXV came out and the recipe memes started...

I tried to keep my names lore-appropriate.
So my main is a Keeper, Seraph'ir Vhinah.
I usually go with 'Seraphor' everywhere, so changedthat to 'ir, one of the suffixes male keepers have (specifically the sixth-born male, so I guess it was a huge litter)

Made a black cat to go for the black-skin/yellow-eye combo for BLM, so to reference the best Black Mage in the franchise, Vivi, I decided to throw 'life' into a translator and came up with Hinah in... I forget if it was Navajo or some other native american, and because Miqote keepers have a tendency to stick a H after consonants, I stuck a V on the front of it too.

My alt Serafo Inochi, is just a Raen version of 'Seraphor' and 'Life', Raen of course being direct Japanese names.
