How did you choose your name?

My forum name Tokochan was my ffxi characters name XD but since I was about 12 when I created that character I wanted to go with something different for xiv.
Ferah was my sister's cat's name.. just liked it, and Bastet is an Egyptian cat god since I was originally a Miqote :3

I like to take my family name from famous stories that I like, in that case it's the same family name than Juliette Capulet in Romeo and Juliette. But I don't like to copy the name of an existing character, so I make a new first name. I've always liked Allicia as a name, so here we go. Sometime, people asks me where is my Romeo, and I like to answer them that I still search for him, but I'm not Juliette, she's more like a cousin and that I don't want to end like her :P

I couldn't think of a name, so I used the name generator. It eventually came up with something like Cillian Quemperlain, so I switched a few letters and made it into Cillien Temperlain.

i just looked up snake names and found one that suits me aka Nagani and kagon since they are vampire tribe

My character's name in FF11 is Kitty, so I just added Cat for the last name here :P

Since I'm a Miqo'te, I thought "what sound does a cat make?" and mixed meow and nya together to get Myah, then just tacked on the male Moon Keeper suffix! It's cute, and I don't think people usually notice the meow/nya thing.

I suck at coming up with names so I go with names of gods, demons, dragons or anything mythical mostly.

Eros Bia: Eros the god of love. Bia "the ancient Greek personification of force: daughter of Pallas and Styx and sister of Cratus, Nike, and Zelos." I like looking at greek gods and goddesses for names. (I might change his last name at some point) Bia was from ether a demon or dragon name gen site originally tho.

Athena Ivy: (Harbinger now) Athena the goddess of battle, Ivy one of my faves in Soul Calibur.

Asmodeus Ameros: Asmodeus archdemon or fallen angel, Ameros fallen angel.

and lastly Jisene Sheaubin...Just something I liked from an Elizien name genrator lol.

Myths and legends are an excellent place to find inspiration and names, I think . I have a few rpg characters with names derived from different mythologies.

In the case of this game though, there are specific naming patterns for all the different races, and a random name generator for ideas - or you can look at existing NPC names.

You don't have to follow them of course, but it's a great starting point for finding something unique for that character.

Went through numerous fantasias, Finally realized how much i liked being a xaela, and gave myself a name that fit more. Not to mention this charactor started out as a female so.. used to have a feminine sounding name.

My (ingame) wife started calling me naga so I guess it stuck.
