A Dying FC Leader looking for some advice

    Greetings all!
So recently I have found myself as the leader of an FC that I have been in since I joined FF14 many years ago and it was always a great place to be. I saw this company buy its first house and then later on a new one in Shriogane. I've seen many members come and go and eventually inheirted (sp?) the compay from a player who moved to a new server because of some personal issues. I love this company with all my heart and really want to see it grow again.

Here is where my dilema comes in all my friends have basically left the game for one reason or another decimating the FC it is dying if not already dead and it breaks my heart. I mean I have put so much into this FC. So I am torn whether I should just abandon it and move on to an active community or if I should try and revamp it and try to recruit more people into the FC. I have done this in the past only to have the members be super active for like 6 months then disappear into oblivion. I dont know what to to here but I'm tired of playing the game basically alone. There are a few people left in the FC but they either arent active or are on hiatus.

I guess I'm just really missing the community feel from the game I used to have. It feels like everyone is already in an FC or doesnt want to be.

I'm also in the same boat as you in some sort of sense, I was the FC leader for the whole of ARR and part of HW we pretty much cleared everything together as a tight community some come and go as to be expected but my PS4 broke during one of our A3S runs so I could no longer play and a FC without it's leader is pretty much a dead one as I organised all events, endgame, all recruitment and other stuff that the FC did together.

I was gone for 3yrs but finally came back a month ago expecting the FC house to no longer be there but to my surprise 1 member had kept the FC going save the FC house worth 80m+ but as I looked down the list of FC members there wasn't really anyone who was active that I remember just the one and few who hadn't logged on for 3months but every main member had stopped playing the same time as I did 3yrs ago or quit the FC during that time. I've also been missing that community feeling of having an active guild talking and wanting to do content together but now that I have come back I've managed to convince one member to come back as well and join me after the free server transfer so we can start up another group together for endgame for the new expansion when it comes out.

The problem I see though is there's a big difference in recruiting members from ARR vs the 3rd expansion in the game's life cycle as most new members who don't have a FC are very far behind to catch up to the latest content quickly enough whereas veteran players most likely already have a group/FC for endgame so we are kinda debating whether or not it's going to be worth it but we are going to try and see.

While I liked alot of the older members it seems most won't be joining back and finding the right players who fit into your community isn't so easy after recruiting over 500+ members in the past, I too also found that players who joined didn't join for the long term but there's some out there that "might" and that is key I guess if you invite enough members you will eventually find that the ones that are going to stick around.

As for advice it's best to ask yourself if you actually want to go through the headache of finding the members for your guild? since if you don't actively recruit all time until you feel you have a decent community going then the FC is going to feel dead as most new members most likely won't stick around. If you can't be bothered in looking for new members then as you said you are best in abandoning your own and looking for a community that best suits your needs.

So it's either look for members or look for a FC (if u do neither then you are just gonna feel alone in a MMO)

For me personally, we merged with another friend's FC and then specialized ourselves in raiding and end game content. It took a long time to recruit ppl, but once you find like-minded individuals, the FC and voice chat became much more active again. Quality > Quantity.

Same story here but unlike yourself and such a lovely friendship story my FC was born out of stupidity. Me and my friend thought the only way to buy a house is making an FC. This meant we happily let others join but rarely if at all recruited as we weren't hardcore enough. Even when I took a long break I would get the demolition email, log in and stop it being destroyed. Simply cos it's a memento of great times. Since I want to play proper again I've decided I don't need new friends to be in my FC cos it didn't matter before either. Meaning others might feel the same so keep your FC only for the memories at least and look for mates to play with cool you can't join their FC.

Rook Dryade happy to add a new mate.

I completely understand you. I went through this in another game many moons ago and in the end the loneliness was just too much to bare and i didn't want it to kill my love for the game. Eventually I joined another guild and soon enough new memories and fun times were being made and it revitalized my love for the game. if you still haven't made a decision we would be lucky to have you in our FC. We could always use someone who has a wonderful passion for the game and who loves to interact and be social
