so what is the point of trying to say the majority thinks a certain way when we can't possibly know that? :v The only thing we have to go off of are the people who actually do say something, and there are way more people requesting the genderlocks be removed than there are people speaking out in support of them.

But my own experience has shown more people out in support of the gender lock than people who want it removed. So who is right?

By your own statement, no one should bring up these arguments about silent majority or vocal minority or what have you, in either direction. None of us have the statistics, and chances are we all hang out with like-minded people. We're also likelier to not pay attention to conversations we don't care for, which likely involve the opposite opinion, so even our individual anecdotal experiences are skewed.
All people can and should say is what they themselves support and why. Either side making claims about the other is a waste of time and forum space.

I'm mainly here to keep the other side grounded with some form of opposition. It wouldn't do for them to think no one opposes what they want and be surprised by it later.

Edit: I'm also legitimately against male Viera and female Hrothgar being added to the game as they will absolutely result in some other content getting cut.

At least in terms of which race is more desired than the other, also content won't be cut, all Yoshida said was that it was resource and time intensive, nowhere in any statement did he say it would result in x or y content being cut. That's just a boogeyman tactic, that's like saying gunbreaker was added so they had to cut potential gathering content, or vice versa.

No it's simple logic considering a finite resource. If you use it for one thing... you by default are ending the possibility of using it on something else.... because it has already been consumed.

Again, it's a fallacy because that's essentially saying all content comes at the cost of others, they aren't going to cancel content in the pipeline for modeling. That isn't feasible or logical to assume in the slightest, especially based off of what Yoshida has said himself, that line of thought is just meant to incite irrational hostility. Again it's like people blaming BLU for why there weren't any ultimates, content released will already have been in the pipeline to begin with, they will not cancel content already prepared to be released. At most it'll be delayed by a patch like diadem and eureka were(for reasons we weren't made aware of aside from bug testing) but they will not be canceled.

Any content for the patches is already in pre-production most likely.

Personal experience isn't a good indicator either though. I know lots of people ingame who don't like the genderlock either. So who is right? The sample size in your personal circle isn't big enough to make any kind of judgement from. The only thing we have to go off of is the attitude of the official forums. That's all SE has to go off of too, they're not reviewing ingame chatlogs.


The pro-genderlock people are actually the minority on the forums if you compare the number of posts and likes on them. :v

you answered your own question, which is why i just repeated you with the same quote given to Nixon when "silent majority" was first coined. The choices are not a binary "yes/no". NOT voting, NOT having an opinion, NOT caring, etc, are all valid choices. "Silence is an answer". By saying nothing, they are saying they do not care.

And how do you know they say nothing? Have you been to each individual tumblr and blog? Have you been to each of the other sub forums here? Have you witnessed each Kugane or Ul'dah shout chat since this broke out? Got the statistics on reddit? 2chan? Facebook?
You confuse lack of visibility for silence. This is the tree falling in the wood with no one there to hear it. It could be it didn't fall; could also be you just didn't hear it. We just don't know, and I doubt anyone on the forums have any capacity to tell until SE comes forward with a statement.
