It's easy to say you're against genderlocking, because it's a limitation.
Make a poll that pits male Viera and female Hrothgar, against female Viera and male Hrothgar, and see how that works out.
The limitation was a compromise for more variety.
you could do that with any of the races and have a clear winner tbh doesnt mean we should delete the less popular gender
Nobody should be 'deleting' anything. but when you're making them to begin with, resources are finite and choices have to be made.
In that poll, with no context, I would have voted against genderlocking, because in an ideal world there would be no need for it.
And I do think they should implement the other genders at some point down the road when they're able to.
However, I think they made the right choice now to release female Viera and male Hrothgar.
Two races are better than one. Had they only released Viera, they'd probably never be able to justify adding in the Hrothgar at a later date. but by adding in one of each, they've ignited demand for the other genders, which they'll be pressured into following through with.
4711 total votes, 2713 opposed, so that's 58%, that would make sense.
active player count (https://ffxivcensus.com/) is apparently 237,561.
So, roughly 1.1% of the playerbase is really opposed.

4,700 responses is enough to get a fair snapshot of a larger population, and extrapolate averages from, providing the platform wasn't a biased one.
The biggest issue with the poll is the limited, loaded question.
While that is true, the OP said "to remind SE that a majority of their playerbase", which is clearly false. There is no way to think this poll is unbiased simply due to the fact that people that already care about the genderlock are seeking these types of things out via reddit/official forums.
4,700 is an impressive poll turnout, I'll admit to that, but I feel its heavily biased. an unbiased poll would be something like a pop-up survey when you log into the game, which we cannot do.
There’s also no reason to assume that the majority wouldn’t be “against genderlocks” in the vaguest sense, which is what this poll asks. So I wouldn’t doubt the results of the poll at all. While that is true, the OP said "to remind SE that a majority of their playerbase", which is clearly false. That’s not the same as asking if people want resources spent on ‘unlocking’ Viera and Hrothgar’s other genders though, the poll itself is flawed.

These are the current number of votes for the poll and the likes on the forums on the two mega threads. There's at least a difference of 1000 votes between the poll and the forums. It's very easy to spread the polls to even non FFXIV players and have them vote, hence why it can be heavily biased. Those that are neutral or for gender-locking won't bother spreading it.
On the forums here, since you need an account, only FFXIV players can vote (I'm not sure if those banned on the forums can still like posts or not, but I doubt they're gonna make up the missing 1000 if they can't).
On a funny note, notice how the number of those strongly opposed to gender-lock in general is much higher than those in the Viera and Hrothgar section. If I have 2720 players that are against gender-locking in general, I'd expect to see at least a minimum of 2720 in both Viera and Horthgar section or more but never less. Hence why it's best to direct the votes to the official means.

I think you're making an assumption: that people who don't like genderlocking in general therefore must strongly oppose/oppose genderlocking in the specific instances of mViera/fHrothgar.On a funny note, notice how the number of those strongly opposed to gender-lock in general is much higher than those in the Viera and Hrothgar section. People can be against/neutral to genderlocking in general, but may be for/be neutral to it in these certain cases. It looks like a few decided just that, hence lesser strongly oppose/oppose votes in mViera/FHrothgar.
You cannot assume that in general means always and in any case.
