No, please god no.

The absolute last thing this game needs is more things that encourage solo play. One of the reasons I dislike most MMOs out there nowdays is that there's little to no sense of community and teamwork, even the battle systems generally have you doing your own thing, there's no need for teamwork. I play an MMO to play with other people, and I want content that reflects that.

It's one of the reasons I liked FFXI so much, it really felt like you were playing off of your party members with stuff like skillchains. It felt like you were a part of a team, not just doing your own thing. Salvage and Nyzul were good examples of content that required teamwork. That's what I want: teamwork and community, because honestly right now community is one of the biggest factors that's keeping this game alive. Adding in something that forsakes the need for community for convenience would be FFXIV shooting itself in the foot.

I don't think soloing is as much of the problem, but we are both concerned with the same potential outcome.

Indeed, I am a fan of the story telling in both this game and FF11, it does set them both apart from other MMO's out there.
