More character models instead on new races

Does every highlander face option lack eyebrows for men? That seems like such a bizarre thing.

Also the mannequin thing is weird. I'm surprised they didn't make hyur, the base human race, one of the first options.

I just hope they allow the selection of midlander or highlander separately when Hyur are added.

In my personal house I have my character's armory and it's lead to some funny RP moments though where people ask my highlander 'why are they all miqo'te mannequins.'

More faces would be nice. For au ra specifically I'd also love it if they could separate face and horn styles.

Wouldn't new character models be the same as adding new races only bigger like a lot bigger since they would be expected to add new models to every race. The best you should hope for is more range on the height slider, more face models, and maybe a head size slider.

XD I mean OP says "More character models instead on new races" so they kinda invited everyone that wants the new races into the topic to say that they disagree. That is what a forum is for, just like some of ya'll keep coming into the Male Viera and Hrothgar threads and telling people you don't care and don't want them, we're allow to come in here and say we do want them instead of them focusing on the current races. Don't be hypocrites about it.

That said, I would love for the current races to get more options. I don't want child models to be playable though, It would be cool if we got expanded options like more faces, skin colors, hair colors. Maybe even more clans? Considering where we are going in the expansion, I hope they don't just reuse the color options we'll have on the source.

The color options shouldn't take too much work I would hope?

But since they did decide to only do half of the new races, I would like to see the missing genders before they decide to do anything big.

Seconded. Also Alphinaud and Alisae models look very close to Hilda (or rather she looks a lot like them), who is a half-breed (go check that shit out). They already have these face options available (technically speaking); quite simply its allowing certain customization options to be cross-race (im pretty sure Aymeric has elements from the old elezen face--as does Baron Fortemps). Elezens need the most love as do male highlanders. Elezens need some of those softer Ishgard models and highlanders need some of the Garlean face options. I also dont want kid models but the other races could have some new nose/eye/mouth options that wouldnt break the game. But i doubt we'll see them until way later now that new races are coming.

Do you mean Alphinaud and Alisaie have a similar face or body type to Hilda? Because if you're meaning body type, Hilda is (at a game-programming level) just a max-height Midlander with a unique face and modified ears.

Also, "Baron Fortemps" - I assume you mean Count Edmont - is actually using a modified version of Au Ra face #4. It's quite unmistakeable once you can see it.

And I'm not sure if it's an exact match, but I think Aymeric at least has similarities to Au Ra face #3 (the younger-looking one, eg. Sidurgu), and Lucia to female face #4 (eg. Sadu).

Those characters would have been worked on at the same time they were making the Au Ra race, so it seems like they might be doing some clever shortcuts on their workload there. I'm not complaining about it, but I think it's interesting to see that they did it.

It makes me wonder how many other "unique" NPC designs might be using the same tactic. It occurred to me yesterday that Asahi might have a Miqo'te face, but I need to have a closer look at that one.
