Thread: Summoner 5.0 changes - summoning -

it has to be a third demi summon, two is an odd when we have 3 egi's, especially since titan egi has been rework due to it cant take damage nor be targeted by enemies.

im hoping we have 3 demi summons to cycle thru not just 2.

Omg, an actual egi thread that isn’t all about asking them to be removed! I thought I was alone! *reads the thread* Okay, so only half of them want egi’s removed. I can live with that.

So hi, nice to meet you, I’m new here. Never posted before today because I was scared of toxicity and stuff. (Also just wanted to play my games, not argue over them) but that changed, I guess, and I just wanted to add my two cents in and say that I hope they keep egis in the game, and put my vote down for more glamours.

I probably don’t come from the same place as a lot of you here, because I am a role player, not a raider. Gameplay has never mattered as much to me as story, and as such I’ve personally always loved having egi’s by my side at all times, in and out of combat. Roleplaying Titan as a floating ball of grumpiness has brought me joy for years and I don’t want that to go away.

I suppose I’m really coming out to say this now because with the changes coming next month I feel both a lot of hope and fear for my favorite class in the game. Adding a second Demi-summon seems to follow the desires of both sides of the egi-debate; in my case, it’s familiar behavior and mechanics to Demi-Bahamut make me feel like maybe they can find a way to make glamours work for the others too.

That’s about all I wanted to say for now, but I’ll end this discussion by noting that I’ve seen some few toxic posts earlier in the thread by people on both sides of the issue, and I hope that we can move past that and keep discussing our ideas without descending into bullying or worse. Thank you all, and have a nice time in the First.

Ok so let's say for a moment that instead of an untargetable Titan Egi flying around next to you you have an untargeteable Demi Bahamut/Phoenix (keep them small sized in cities for the sake of convenience, imagine Limsa with a legion of SMNs with their L sized Bahamuts out).

How does that change anything to you? Are you really telling me that you prefer the design of Titan-egi or Garuda-egi to the one from the two Demis...?

It has nothing to do with their design! What I’m afraid of is removing Egi entirely, replacing them with 20-Second phases or instant attacks that can only be activated in combat. I listen to people who say that summoner isn’t summoner unless you’re summoning full-size primals that do one big attack and go away, and when I hear that I think ‘wait, how will I be able to summon them in my house then?’ If you want to make them look like their original avatars that’s one thing, but if you want to take away my pets and make them nuke buttons then I have to something to say!

You people...honestly...I don't get it. You don't want the Demis size slightly decreased for the sake of convenience in the big cities, because that would be feel like going with a cheap minion following you. But then you don't care about having a pet that looks like a flying potato?

All these years, people complaining about Egis and asking SE to make the SMN a real class with better summon designs, and once we finally get phoenix and bahamut after years of begging at SE, now, you suddenly like Egis and find them cute.

Well, cool then.

demi size is what observer set it to be, summoner doesn't matter. And carbuncles don't look like potatos, do not fly and ARE cute :P

Well I had to dig through all my Egi feedback post to find it but here is fondness of Egi Ifrit and Egi Titan. I do however dislike Egi Garuda. I also have advocated for Spur, Rouse, and even DWT to summon a true or Demi form of the summoned Egi for the set time limit. I've also asked for Demi-Bahamut in 2015. But I also have my own personally preferences and I like Ifrit, Titan and even Ramuh Egi design.
