They can't make it look totally amazing because noone would be able to run the game.

I'd like a graphics update, but my current desktop PC gives me somewhere between 10-25 FPS using High (Laptop) settings, with an average of 12 FPS during intensive combat situations or just having large number of players on screen, still very much playable by the way, for those spoiled by high FPS.
So I'm not in any hurry either if a graphics update would mean I need to upgrade my PC, which is in a very good working condition and has been for years.
Graphics wise I don't see anything wrong? The graphics are fine. Some other things need to be addressed with the engine though.

Just stare at Hien's coat for a while, or count the pixels on the carbuncle mount's nose(32). Even with everything maxed out, the texture resolution on a lot of things is awful. The game's beautiful at a distance, but it gets worse and worse the more you zoom in.

I be satisfied if they focus on gear graphics itself first myself it just painful to look at sometimes.... Imo

i have the feeling in the future it will be done similar to WOW, where the player models get a update but not the old gear or maps/monsters but everything new will have a graphical update. it would be to much work to retroactively upgrade everything
Sometimes you just got to have Some fun

you mean XIV-3
but it would be cool if they ended up doing another calamity, and world re-make. It could be XIVs gimick, to reinvent itself, every 14year
They could restart it on first astral/umbral era, and we could go through the allagan empire era.

Adding higher res textures does not necessarily require a full overhaul.
