The "Wow Refugee's" impact on the FFXIV Community?

It showed everyone how truly toxic this community is.

Instead of labeling them as normal players, the community labels them as "WoW refugees" and tends to blame them for everything that goes wrong.

"FF14 community is nice", just take one look at the whole "WoW Refugees" situation and you will quickly see the opposite.

Nah, it's just the vocal minority hoopin' and hollerin' at the top of their lungs.

Wowfugee isn't derogatory, labels are labels. Your tone makes it sound negative when everything has a label. They are normal players with mindsets from 10+ years of wow.

The forum community s*** in any game, even in here. But the people in game are really way nicer the at wow when i played, that is the different, but they comming here, changes nothing, just people realising how great FFXIV have become.

Wow Refugee nonsense is mostly blown out of proportion by Fourmites and their silly inclination to always be the vocal minority.

We've seen neither an increase in toxicity or a decrease in game, people are generally nice enough anywho.

I mean yeesh, y'all are treating WoW folks like Ala Mhigan refugees to Ul'dah or something.

I think at this point a better unifying term would be "Former WoW Players" because that's honestly what it is at this now in general.

The whole BFA fiasco happened, XIV helped those people with Twitch prime and ARR. At this current point I think it's easier (and less abrasive) to just say that they used to play WoW and now they don't.

Most of these recent Youtube videos from former WoW players are titled like "Why I left WoW for XIV" and things of the like. I know it's funny to say they're refugees but with so much time passing I think it's better to have a more normal unifying term.

In terms of the players I think they're totally welcome. There's been so many posts of former WoW players appreciating XIV for what it is and that makes me really happy.

With a new expac for them to join it's great to have more players join in the fun. As most of these people also have good MMO experience it allows for an easier time getting used to XIV too and all the ones I've met have been generally open to advice. Met some great people so far from it and I'm happy to meet more that want to work together.

WoW players do have an impact on toxicity, it's not to say they're entirely to blame but they do have an impact. You have to remember they come from a game where the entire mentality is basically "gogogogo" rushing through all the content, levelling in that game is absolutely pointless because you learn nothing from it, there's no story and it is the living embodiment of " the game starts at the end game "

Some, not all, will come to this game expecting something similar they'll rush to the end game only to disappoint themselves because FFXIV and WoW's end games are pretty different. I try not to blame the players too much given time people can be programmed to behave differently, I blame Ion Hazzikostas and the other higher ups who've turned WoW into the joke it's become.

I think people are people. There are good and bad in WoW players as well as FFXIV players. The overall rise in jerks is due to the overall rise in players. There are simply more players right now so there are more good and bad. Stop looking for someone to blame and worry about how you treat others. Ignore the jerks and move on.
