Can BLU learn spells when they're dead?

I've tried searching on Google and can't get a straight answer on this. I finally got to level 50 on my BLU and going in EX Primal fights and wondering if I can learn a spell while dead while my teammate finishes the fight.

On post mentioned if you die and then get raised you can still learn the spell. However is that during the fight or after?

Can someone confirm this? I like to know if it's possible to learn spells for BLU if you're died and the battle is over.

They must be alive. It's okay to die after seeing the ability, then raise (or even return) during the fight; but you have to be alive when the mob dies.

As far as I know, you need to be alive. You can halt or slow down on dpsing the boss if blu's die or let the boss recast the spell after the blu is rezzed, to make sure they get credit in time.
