Somthing one wonders about the Viera.

In FFXII we find out that the Viera are sensitive to mist, that is basically Ivalices' version of aether, if i remember rightly... I wonder do people think it would be the same with FFXIV Viera and aether? and that enough aether in concentration might cause them to go beserk, like fran, in the one part of the game.

They might both Fran and Montiblonc do comment on how corrupt/off the aether is in the Orbonne Monastery. Along with how it changes throughout the place.

If there IS such a sensitivity, it will never affect players, either negatively or positively. All races in the game are treated alike, both by NPCs and environments. This means that either Viera don't have that sensitivity, or player characters will never wind up in a situation where that sensitivity matters, so it's pretty much a moot point.

After writing the above, I realized that there IS an upcoming environmental factor that treats races differently (unless it was all one big joke). Only Lalafell will be able to enter Dwarven buildings, as they are built too small for other races. That would be an example of an environment that treats one race differently than the others. Even so, I sure don't see the devs adding areas where one player race goes berserk and the others are fine.

Fran mentioned Mist in Orbonne, and wondered if she was sensing aether instead. Her dialogue treats it as though Viera still have that sensitivity and that it's a different substance.

Far as I can tell Mist is more of a term used by Viera to describe a thick palpable amount of Aether that is present in their home forest. Rather than something different, could be more akin to like a mana potion bath and essentially aether doping after too much exposure from beings sensitive to it. i.e. Mages being more affected or affected quicker than say Fighters. Multiple times in the story so far has concentrated/prolonged exposure to energy/aether sources has been shown to have adverse effects, whether it be Y'shtola and Thancred in the Lifestream, or production of artificial echoes with Fordola and Zenos, killing Ascians with concentrated unaspected aether and the ability to convert life force into aether causing death like with Louisoix and Moenbryda.

Fran's line is something to the effect of "The Mist here seems foul... or is this aether?"
