I feel that Ultima is end of life for Ff14
Can we have a non limit break metor instead. Make it smaller and one of our strongest spells and a reward for making eco last more than 30s
That would be Comet. Which frankly would fit in a BLMs kit a LOT better than Ultima would.
Isn't that basically what starstorm is?
In the Titan 16-bit parody they even use the comet animation for the lv2 caster LB.
I think we need to be a bit more grounded in expectations, there were more "ultimate" level spells than ultima they can pull from such as tornado, break and freeze.
Or these would be good examples except they kind of already have set roles and classes, two of which would go to WHM if they implemented the spells for player use, and the last, freeze, which already exists and is utterly useless....
I think I can see why they created the new spell Foul now rather than using an existing spell.
Much as I hate to say it
even if BLM had Ultima
There'd still be a rant or twenty about not doing enough DPS.
This coming from Someone who Loves BLM and Plans on making it her next 70.

I mean, you really can't give BLM and realistically expect it to do the kind of damage one would expect of a spell called ultima and as seen by the ultima weapon and the raid boss.
It would simply be broken.
It would have to be toned down so much that it wouldn't be ultima anymore.
Like Ramza in Tactics hm?... don't think Blms would be happy with a solution like this : /I mean, you really can't give BLM and realistically expect it to do the kind of damage one would expect of a spell called ultima and as seen by the ultima weapon and the raid boss.

In most games, isn't Ultima basically doing 9999 damage or bust and you only survive it because of a defensive limit break or you're "touched" by some higher power?
In 14, I really don't see it being a thing because for it to live up to its name would mean it would have to one shot just about the entire fight (or cleave health in a massive chunk), take 100% mana and then some, and probably inflict friendly fire at that, plus force a scenery change of utter destruction every time it was used, and then have a 20-30 minute cooldown between uses.
Well, at least I'm trying...
No. Absolutely not.
Ultima is the FINAL spell.
It is the most devastating spell of 30+ Years of Final Fantasy.
ARR confirmed it to be most ancient and powerful spell.
This thread is basically
"Oh hey can you throw this into a L80 spell?"
Next expansion happens.
"Oh can you invent Ultima 2? I know it's never happened in FF, but..."
Next expansion happens.
"Oh hey do we get Ultima 3 now that we're on this slippery slope?"
No. No no no.
Comet makes sense.
Meteo makes sense.
Merton makes sense.
Meltdown makes sense.
Foul makes sense.
Ultima does not make sense and we should not offer some cheap dumbed-down spell, no matter what Shard we're on, after how badly the game emphasized its power in ARR from Ascians who travel across all the Shards.
Final Fantasy released Ultima in FF2 in 1988. The spell is over 30 years old.
Do not give in to people who just want a name to feel better than their actual DPS.
