Black Screen PS4 after update installed

    Hello,

My PS4 Pro installed the recent update to the FF Launcher this morning and now launched to a black screen with a cursor. It is not a connection issue as i have seen others post this similar issue and that is what you blamed and they just gave up with your response team as they likely didn't have the patience to deal with your logic. It started once the launcher was updated ( as it did with others on other platforms) and even after a reinstall ( with this updated launcher) same thing. Please fix this, and stop blaming network issues as the culprit. If it were a network issue, whats to say its not on your side? Network issues work both ways. I would like to think you just put out a broken launcher and don't want to put the effort in to figure out where it went wrong like usual. I haven't spent the money in this game for the, extra content, expansions, memberships to not be able to play it and for you to point the blame in every direction but your own. FIX IT

    Hello,

I wanted to provide an update and a resolution to this thread. For testing purposes, I happen to have an old ps4 in my living room with FFXIV installed on it. I downloaded and installed the new patch and this time i couldn't even launch the game. Turns out I was unable to communicate to the PSN licensing server ( ODD). If you are playing on a different console, and using your profile, you need to be able to communicate to the server to play any of your digital games, makes sense, but why cant i communicate? I tried several of my Hard copy games and was able to play live, chat with friends no problem. Issue seemed to be related to not being able to communicate and maybe was causing my FFXIV woes. This brought me to running a packet capture on my network and loading the launcher to find out what the problem was. After investigating, DNS queries were timing out when the Launcher was trying to pull up the login page. I changed my DNS provider on my LAN and WLAN to a different public DNS provider and now I could communicate with the licensing server and the login screen comes up when launching FFXIV and this resolved it on my ps4 pro as well. So i do apologize to Square for saying its not a network issue, but it took me a network engineer to determine where it was failing by running a packet capture. Not everyone that has this problem, will have the hardware or the ability to review packet captures to see what the actual problem is.
