    The New Solo Duty (Spoilers)

    Can we PLEASE stop long boring RP Fights with regular character battles afterwards that have instant-fail conditions?

    I don't mind RP Fights where you take control of another character, but I hate it when you do that, and then have a second segment right after it, that can be failed and then when you do fail, you have to repeat THE WHOLE THING all over again, including the RP Fight. It's interesting the first time you do it, but the 2nd or 3rd time later, it's annoying.

    And I really wish you guys would stop with DPS Checks, because my main is a WHM. You have the DPS checks being a little tight, unexpectedly so, and of course loss means having to replay a 5+ minute fight before it. Either put a checkpoint in, or split the fights up into two different solo duties so we don't have to repeat the long slow part to get to the part that's actually needing some attention.

    Doing 5 minutes of 1 1 1 1 1 1 2 1 1 1 1 1 1 2 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 several times isn't fun just because you guys threw a random "DPS check or you die instantly" in another fight after it in the same solo duty.

    So please stop doing this, or allow us to skip the first fight or something if we already did it once, or let us get back up and try again.

    I had to do the fight twice as warrior, the first time through I didn’t even notice the bar counting up and it felt like an instant fail and I was like “wtf” and then realised I had to down the swords, so used inner beast and fell cleaved them.

    The first part seemed to go on forever and it felt like it would have been really hard to die anyway haha and found it quite boring on the second go.

    Glad I didn’t do it as a healer, I imagine it would be a pain.

    It'd be nice to see solo duties tailored to the role that you do them on.

    Healer? Let healers focus on keeping the other NPCs alive.
    Tank? Let them focus on maintaining threat off of squishier NPCs.
    DPS? What we have now, except maybe harder, since the duties won't need to be balanced to the weaker roles.

    Is the second trial really that difficult?

    I did it on what the community considers the weakest tank job, DRK, and I had no issue. I had no idea there was even a countdown for the Swords cause they went down so fast..

    I actually wanted more.. lol

    I am disappointed the RP character I was playing as has very few attack skills.

    The RP fight was interesting the first time, dull the second time, and annoying by the third time. And as BLM it took me 8 attempts to beat the sword countdown on the main fight, so by the time I actually completed it I didn't have any sense of satisfaction, I was still too annoyed.

    IMO there are places for difficult fights with sudden death mechanics, and that place is not the MSQ.

    Ironically I aced Sadu and the new trial with plenty of meter to spare as WHM while failing as a DPS. But I agree. I had to do both fights again on other characters and boy oh boy do those RP fights not have the same charm when you have to re-do them. I don't know how much programming would have to go into it, but I'd like to see a retry version, and a quit option like in DF. Retry as the same job, quit to swap out.

    8 times as the highest Solo DPS job in the game. Mate, it's not about the DPS check, you just ain't pressing your buttons.

    I agree, the rp fights need to only be done once.
    let us shortcut right to the actual fights

    ugh, I mispoke

    If you are a healer:
    Aero the swords
    and just faceroll the damage markers just soak up the damage from most of it.

    I have to ask a couple questions:

    1. What does your gear look like on WHM?
    2. What were you doing during the sword phase?

    I cleared the instance on WHM as well—for the swords, I use Aero III on all of them (cast separately), blew one away with about 3~4 Stone IVs, and blew the other two away with 2~3 Stone IVs + Assize (I stood in the middle to try and hit two of the swords with it). You can also save Cleric Stance and Presence of Mind for that if you are that worried you won’t meet the check, but the check isn’t that harsh on a WHM.

    Which brings me back to why I asked my first question—what does your gear look like on your healers? People are speculating you probably want to be i360 at the very least, but probably higher for the instance.
