Good point...
If nothing else they could have done a cop-out and reminded us of all the allies we'd lost up to this point, Ishgard was even the perfect place for that...
Rather than send us to the Rising Stones after we're dumped out in Ishgard, have Edmont remind us to go visit a friend first... Slap in a flash back cutscene of various losses, end with a flash of Mr Enigma to set him up as, perhaps not an antagonist, but someone we're (or at least Fray) not to happy with... Then we walk away with a determined, but angry expression... Not smiling...
A smile better suits a hero... Hows that for a requiem?
Ideally though, I want "A Requiem for Heroes" to be an indication that perhaps there are no heroes in war... So far though this doesn't even feel like a war, and what we do have is incredibly black and white... Characters like Maxima just happily defecting doesn't help matters there, nor does Black Rose... My only hope is that perhaps Solus doesn't intend for Garlemald to use Black Rose at all, and when we finally return we do so to heroes who aren't quite as spotless as when we left them... I'm really not sure I can see this game going for that dark a route though... And still, that's 5.0, not 4.5, but maybe "A Prelude to a Requiem for Heroes" was too much of a mouthful...
Now that I think on it... Mr Enigma really is being handled quite poorly... He first calls and takes Thancred, then days layer we get a trailer with Thancred showing off Gunbreaker, so goodbye any dramatic tension there... Now we finally meet this guy and our options are; "Who are you?" and "No! Send me back! My head is about to be forcibly removed from my body!". This guy is playing fast and loose with peoples souls and we're not the slightest bit mad about that? I really hope becoming the Warrior of Darkness means we get to go Fray levels of abuse on some of these characters...
