Dear Square Enix, Please Add More Crafting/Gathering Content..

Been crafting since 2.0, love the crafting and gathering systems. But something has been bugging me lately..

Why does it feel like crafters and gatherers have been getting ignored and even less appreciated?

One thing I really enjoyed about this community back in 2.0 and 3.0, was that no matter who you were and what occupation you had in-game, you were respected and treated equally. I miss when raiders, dungeon runners, FC leaders, PvP teams, crafters, gatherers...all were respected and had a big role in the game. That’s what I miss the most about how FFXIV Online. Not just respected and appreciated, but also rewarded.

Raiders = Appreciated for their time; helped new members understand the run. Rewarded by having fancy gear. (eg. Alexander and such)

Dungeon runners = Appreciated. Helped new players understand the dungeon run. Rewarded by Commodation tokens and loot.

PvP players = Appreciated. Rewarded with GC seals, items, and really cool FEAST events.

Crafters = Meh. Crafting is easy now, no big deal. Prudent Touch makes it a cake walk. Rewarded with very little content..

Gatherers = Meh. I have bots on my server, so I’ll just buy things from them. Rewarded with low amounts of Gil per item and little content..

See what I mean? Before 4.0, things were all appreciated all the same. There were no imbalances whatsoever. In 2.0, crafters had no easy way out of an RNG rotation, you had to understand what you were doing to complete the craft. Nowadays, people do not need to understand much, really. This hurts the crafter, because they have to rely on googled rotations instead of understanding the mechanics themselves. I can’t tell you how many crafters have come to me at level 70 Omni, asking end game crafting rotation questions.
I know a lot of you have mixed feelings about what I said above, but I’m sure at least. 80% of us will agree on this part...The crafting content we have been getting lately is lacking...badly.

*In 2.0, we get craftable white gear, green gear, and blue gear. (I believe the blue gear were Lucis turn ins) Even special tools.

*In 3.0, it was much more difficult, but at least it was content nonetheless. We got so much crafting and gathering content to do.

*In 4.0, it’s so lackluster...we get two sets of white gear, and the last set we have until. 5.0 is Onishi green gear? No special shiny glowing tools either?

It’s become clear to me that the developers have taken 4.0 to focus less on DoH/DoL and more on other things. Which, an entire expansion to focus on other things like Viera and Dancer is understandable. But nothing else after Onishi gear is pretty bad for us.

That’s all. Sorry for the wall of text, I just feel I should speak for the crafters and gatherers on this game with such poor amount of content. Whether you’re a raider, dungeon runner, PvP’er, crafter, or gatherer, we should all have equal opportunities to have good worthwhile content. We all deserve a good time.

Actually I've been wondering if they'll ever add a new gathering/crafting profession...

It's been announced that crafters and gathers are getting a big update in 5.0 along with end game content. Something to do with "The Restoration of Ishgard", It was previously mentioned new type of content will be designed for this.

Wow, really? Does that also mean we will actually get good crafting gear that goes all the way up to blue gear? (Like for example, ironworks crafting and gathering gear in 3.0 HW.)

No one really knows yet but Yoshi-P said crafters/gathers will be getting a lot of content this time and "end game". I would assume new gear is part of the package.
