Because it's more than 2%, people are just quiet about it. Just cause you keep your mouth shut doesn't mean you don't exist.the thing that I get is his mentions fans wanting a more animalistic/beast race, but in almost every MMO they make up a small minority of the playerbase (as low as 2% in some games) and that's with having them from release and not having to pay to race change or re-lvl and put yourself behind.
So from a game development standpoint it doesn't make sense unless they believe they can create a beast race that everyone and their mother is going to love and that will have more player then the potential for male Viera. ( know a lot of people who enjoyed the race in 12 and A2 who wanted to know what the males looked like, so it's chance not only to get those currently playing that are interested, but those who aren't)
Remember when everyone use to say that raiders only made up 1% of this game? That was obviously false.
Very good interview. He really knows how to talk to Yoshi P and get info, nice job![]()

Y: I usually compare FFXIV with a theme park, but the Forbidden Land of Eureka won’t be a place where everyone would want to go. For example, there are people who don’t want to go to horror houses because they don’t see the point in getting scared on purpose. For example, on a date, the boyfriend might want to invite the girlfriend to go the horror house, but the girlfriend just doesn’t seem to find it fun. In other words, it’s not like everyone wants to go to the horror house, but there are people who just love the adrenalin rush they get from it. Think of Eureka as something like that.
Im still not happy about the BLU comments. Getting "hardcore" content for blu doesnt change the problems that people have with it, that its side content with a very limited shelf life.
Savage Completion Rate ~5%+ of active players. Community: "Ugh stop catering to savage"
Ultimate Completion Rate ~1% of active players. Community: "Ugh stop catering to the hardcore raiders"
Frontline/ Rival Wings/ Hidden Gorge Mount Aquisition ~0.05-1% of active players. Community: "Ugh PVP is so dead in this game, they should stop investing in it"
Blue Mage Morbol Mount Aquisition ~0.01% of active players. Community: "WoW bLuE mAgE iS sO fUn AnD aCtIvE i CaN't WaIt FoR mOrE lImItEd JoBs"
Very good interview. The phrasing of questions was masterful and respectful and The ending pulled at my heartstrings.
If the excuses weren't of the same nature as the ones they've given for many other things like BLU, then they could have had more of a room to wiggle around. Not happy with his answers on Eureka or BLU mage but that's because I wasn't happy with either. I'd rather not have anymore limited jobs and I would really like the new relic weapon "not" be locked behind the new Eureka content. I hope they would make Eureka an option to getting the relic, even can be the fastest method to get it if necessary, just not the only option.
Reading his response to BLU actually seems like the beginning of backpedaling.
I'm not being hopeful, but a statement like that simply screams that they actually did receive more than enough negative feedback on limited jobs and BLU's situation. Especially when you compare it to something like this:
So they finally dropped the "balance" and "enjoyment" excuses and changed the entire point to "Let's see how it works in 5.x".Naoki Yoshida: The Blue Mage is only able to acquire balance because it is what we now call a “limited job,” and there are no plans to remove the limited aspect from the job.
It means there has been a change, which means that those who want to main BLU like a normal job simply have to show interest.
But even then, it seems silly that they have to take such steps when people have already shown them how they could make everyone happy, without having horrendous time constraints.
As well as how the initial excuses were just that, poor excuses.

To be fair, this wasn't exactly difficult to predict. Throw in how glamours and aesthetics are huge things to a lot of people, and how much either race was well requested and it was inevitable.
Well while it does not bother me, they kind of did it to themselves. That and not adding a healer which for most talking about tweaks does not do much to calm some of the anger some have.
People don't even know what they want.
We all know the 3 healing classes have balancing issues, yet people ask for another one of top, just because "new".
They never announced a new healing class in the first place.
The takeaway from this fan fest for me is: Don't fantasize and assume things.

For me with this interview it seems they started looking at sub-roles of tanks but still see just 1 role for healers and until they do start to see sub roles in healers as in regen/shield etc, new healers are not going to be announced as they are trying to balance 3 healers for 1 role rather than 2 healers per sub rolePeople don't even know what they want.
