It's not sexist, I agree.
I still prefer full races, and cross my fingers for the other sexes in 6.0.
They did say themselves that the gender lock in 1.0 was a mistake, so hopefully they'll implement the other sexes later.

Well, the reason for that is because now it directly affects the player, right? The player is given the illusion of choice, but doesn't really have a choice because what speaks to them most isn't available in the gender they prefer to play as. If SE had released playable Lupin as male-only, you can bet there would be the same backlash.
Personally I do think that the prevalence of male-only models in the game is a real problem (not just in this game, either), but then I get called an SJW or whatever, just because I think that the other half of the population should make up an equal part of the representation. Wanting to see myself reflected in the world I pay to inhabit isn't something that should be ignored or dismissed. And frankly, a playboy bunny does not reflect the general female population.
Folks are going to great extents to defend SE's decision here and insist that there is absolutely no sexism whatsoever in the game or in this decision. It's kind of depressing. It means we really haven't made much progress.
Yes, obviously the more the better, I want them too (I won't change my race anyways, but the more variety, the better). They just didn't have enough time to finish the other 2, and will probably do them in a future.

Or you're just talking outta your ass. Like when you tried peddling that bs about female Hrothgar being confined to caves when we haven't heard a lick of the official lore.
And, again, no. No sexism went into this decision, for the umpteenth time. You can put that to bed, it's a tired af argument. Just because you didn't get a design that doesn't represent you doesn't mean the devs are enabling a specific viewpoint.
And a lot of the girls in the game are actually guys in real life.In a meta sense, aren't they trans too? I never realized FF XIV was so progressive.
In fairness, there is a historic issue of this pairing of design styles for what we can safely call gender counterparts for now. It's something that continues to promote stereotypes and gender ideals which is something we should really work to get away from. We saw this with the Au Ra in this game, even. I'm choosing to believe it was down to coincidence brought on by having to check boxes in regards to implementing new races, as opposed to a conscious effort to split it as sexy bunnygirl/burly beastman. It's just because a light is being shone on it in the first place that people are bringing it up. For all we know the counterparts are also going to be burly beastwomen/feminine looking bunbois and the world keeps turning.
There are definitely some cultural aspects here that clash, but that's a whole other mess of tangles that we wouldn't be able to begin to deal with.
And that is called hypocrisy from those screaming sexism. If something is wrong, it has to be said from the accuser whether it affects them or not.
It would be ignored and dismissed if there's no significant demand on it from the playerbase. A single player's demand is not a reason to invest a huge amount of resources to satisfy. And the playboy bunny race you're talking about are the best example of that. They were thrown in based on players demand, not SE's.
Yes we support their decision, because they tried to satisfy as much as they could from the player base throwing in 2 male races would have been a mistake, and they knew based on players' feedback that they wanted female Viera. So they added them instead of female Hrothgar (business PoV).
And we should learn from JP community how they react to something if they didn't like. They're not over there throwing tantrums and screaming "sexism!" like we're doing here thinking we can bend the devs' arms to do something taxing instead of letting them focus on giving us better content.

There is significant demand. Look at the megathread that exploded in just days, and it's actually quite a calm thread. And that is called hypocrisy from those screaming sexism. If something is wrong, it has to be said from the accuser whether it affects them or not.

I wouldn't call thousands significant yet in a game that the population is in millions. But then again, the devs' plan was already set on Hrothgar. So choosing between male and female Viera would most likely land on female Viera because 1- the demand on them is much higher than males 2- they don't have a reference to go by for the males as Yoshi P stated in Mr. Happy's interview. So it would also make much more sense to make Horthgar males in this case.
But as Yoshi P said, if there's demand they will look into the possibility of adding the other genders. And that thread is doing a good job as long as they're keeping SJWs out lol.
