Force? Just stay with your current race. I do love the old-fashioned stereotype of men being large beasts though, and women having bunny ears.Because they're genderlocked to incredibly old-fashioned gender stereotypes? Males have no choice but to be big burly bruisers and females have no choice but to be curvy playboy bunnies. There's nothing inherently wrong with that, but to FORCE it on people is unconscionable.
Sexist or not, it's just dumb.
We litteraly know nothing other then their name on the first and source.
Honestly with how XIV is I wouldn't put it past that the female Hrothgar are more merchants letting there husband bring back materials such as skins, wool's, metals ect.
Then the women make those into more useful things while caring for the children and make a majority of the money while the men go out to get more mat's. I don't see anything sexist with it because in that case the women are the major bread owners plus they could be making the armor & equipment or buying there husband new gear to go out.
But this is nothing more then me giving a theory.
I have a strange feeling I'm gonna have to keep saying "lore isn't why you're not getting male Viera, female Viera are why you're not getting female Hrothgar." .-.
I wish people would stop pushing real-world "ideals" in a fantasy game.
♥ Baby, tell me, what's your motive? ♥
wah-waah-waaah.
Grow up its a game, you are not entitled to anything, you can not like things the devs do and dont do just fine, but quit acting like "i pay my fee, SE owes me stuff!"
SE is a buisness, they owe you shit. You wanna play the game then pls do so. You wanna quit cause of this, good riddance. But stop trying to force YOUR will into someone elses game.
Honestly I dont care about the genderlock at all, SE has their reasons and thats cool, but try seeing things from the other side of the fence, just cause I do not want femme Hrots and male vieras, should SE listen to me more than you?
Cause it sounds alot like you think your feelings in a game matter more than my feelings in the same game that we both pay for.

Nur hübsch sein reicht eben nicht. Man muss auch Bier trinken können.

Lore doesn't have anything to do with why they are gender locked. They wanted to make Hrothgar, but needed to make Viera due to popularity, didn't have the resources to make both, so decided to make one model for each. Two types of people get the race they want, rather than just those who want Viera. This is especially relevant to the WoW refugee situation.
I hope it ends soon. I never expected this stupidity about "sexism" to get that big in a fantasy game. I know they're few, but they're annoyingly noisy (and spammers).
Devs doesn't deserve all this backlash over something so insignificant.
