I would like to show my support for the Devs and the gender-lock of the new races.

I respect their decision and I wouldn't want to add more strain on the dev team to painstakingly make the other genders and possibly have to reconsider NPC storylines and everything else that goes along with it. So far I've mainly seen people upset about male Viera anyways. After the behavior of the community I hope you (the devs) stick to your guns and keep what you've already made. Don't reward bad behavior and make more work for yourselves.

I, for one, am super stoked that we get a real, beast-looking race (Hrothgar) as the other "beast races" have basically been: generic human with cat ears/tail or other generic human with horns/minor scales/tail.

I really don't think they were being sexist, they just prioritised their resources in a way that people didn't like.

I'm actually more irked about the Hrothgar being gender-locked. Having male Viera would had been cool, but the race has never been shown as male in any game they have been featured (other than that one concept art sketch from pre-1.0.) We have, though, seen female Ronzo in X and X-2.

I understand the development headache, and still hold my hope that at some point they will go back and add female option to the Hrothgar. Would welcome the same for Viera, but would understand if they keep that race forever gender-locked.

I would have preferred they release one complete race (either Hrothgar or Viera) than releasing 2 genderlocked races. I get why they did it, Hrothgar was the original plan and Viera was the result of fan demand, but this was just such a messy way to handle it. Throwing off the entire development path of the game just to get Fran in the game for the Ivalice raid is just crazy to me. Now they've inadvertently recreated the problem with the 1.0 races.
