This is all on Yoshi. :v Can't say it was the result of Matsuno wanting to preserve the lore or anything like that. I knew my boy Matsuno wouldn't do me like that and people shouldn't have been trying to shift the blame onto him. So let's spare Matsuno our wrath.

He only said he had nothing to do it. I read it more as in "not my problem, lol". I don't think this will create any kind of chain reaction. He only wanted to clarify that and imagine, it's the most reasonable thing to do. With how ballistic this community gets over a trivial subject, I wouldn't want my twitter getting nuked by that angry mob.

A38: I don’t think we’ll have mixed races for a while. Since it seems like Viera is popular around the world we have been proactively looking into this, but since having a rabbit male might be kind of weird, maybe we’ll look into having a separate race for the male counterpart.

I really dont understand the logic behind a male rabbit race being weird but a male cat race not being.

I still got mad respect for Matsuno so never thought he had any blame in this decision, nice to see it confirmed, too. This was all hanging on that "I think Male Viera would be weird" from years ago, which is problematic in and off itself.

It reminds of how men on the dev team (of majority men) wouldn't work on the bunny outfit for male characters because it made them... "uncomfortable".
