Make Viera and Hrothgar non-binary / gender-neutral?

Rather than having female Viera and male Hrothgar, why not just keep the existing body models, but give us variety in facial design and chest size?

Let people define their character's gender for themselves instead of defining it for them.
Don't list the gender for either race.
Have some masculine-esque facial choices for Viera
And some feminine-esque facial choices for Hrothgar
And add hair options that allow players to make male-looking or female-looking characters of each race.

This solves the "lack of resources" problem.
But also gives players the flexibility to play as whatever gender or identity they prefer.

It might require a bit of tweaking gear-wise (e.g. chests for viera), but at least it will give people more flexibility in how they play the game.

More flexibility and choice is always good (not SJW propaganda).

And lore can be updated to have both races as gender neutral (males and females are culturally similar in body-type and clothing).
And/or to have viera/hrothgar quests about non-binary life choices (in a respectful way).

As non-binary, I would be okay with it and it would save me a fortune on Fantasias. However, I agree that: a) it would take too much dev time and resources to alter both races' bodies to be gender-neutral or fluid, and b) it would bring out a lot of hate from the crowd that gets triggered at anything that doesn't conform to gender norms.

It's all about flexibility.

For example you can make a Viera with almost no chest, long hair, but a slightly masculine face. Could be a bunny boy. Could be a bunny girl. Could be bunny neutral. All up to you.

Can have the lore say that Viera have their own sense of fashion for all genders. So if you're playing as a "bunny boy" it still uses female gear models in the game.

It would actually be really cool because we already have lots of male and female options.
This gives a more gender-doesn't-matter option.

And same for a female-esque hrothgar.

Sorry but that's just... downright terrible reason to not do things. If you never do things because a few homophobic and misogynistic people out there are grossed out by it we'd never progress anywhere.
