    About Male Viera, hmm

What if they're making another Ivalice based Final Fantasy game and it will include the first in game appearance of male viera, so they're holding off until after the game can show off the males first before FFXIV ?
    Fingers crossed?

Nonetheless, I cast my vote for male viera and female hrothgar as well. I much prefer male characters that are considered more like pretty boys; and strong female characters are very empowering.

I hope if not soon, the gender lock will be lifted and they will add them both someday.

I doubt it, male Viera showing up in a new Ivalice game would be as NPCs, Square would get far more hype introducing them first as playable. Square also are notorious for announcing games years in advance, so if they are releasing a new Ivalice game (remember the last new Ivalice game was a mobile title released 6 years ago) it wont be for a while, we'd already know about it.

That said. Nintendo has been crushing it with Fire Emblem these last few years, I could be entirely wrong and Square might have been convinced to bring Tactics back to the switch.

In Gamespot interview Yoshida said (if it's not mistranslated or lied) that they will consider players feedback. If so, we do not really need another Ivalice game.

In terms of lore (which one of the reason why we are in this situation now) they broke it once already when made male Miqo'te and female Roegadyns who did not exist in their original game, FF11. Not to mention that we actually break the lore on daily basis at least with jobs. So, with proper polite feedback, this can be solved.

Still, I'm sad to see that in fact 50% of posts end up in insults (both from those who is against the lock and those who is up for this which does not make any of those people look better). While situation in its core as well as main arguments were quite the same in 2011, the whole level of negativity in community is just disgusting. Though I'm also sad to see threads about "it's sexism" and "I'm offended" because... c'mon FF14 is not sexist game. More than that, it's now how you should to ask developers about anything. So in the end, both teams are bad in this fight.

^This is my point! On one hand Yoshi P said in the interview that adding new races involves a lot of time and money, but then he also said that not adding male Viera was about 'lore'. Like you said, they have already broken lore time and time again, so using that as an excuse now is just a lame excuse when in reality, it comes down to cost. However, since WE, the players, are paying for SE's time... then they should be giving players what we want since we are already paying for it.
