I wouldn't blame yoshida, honestly I'm more suspicious of the CEO who has had a hand in both XV and KH 3 being borderline extended DEMO's of games. Noticed how he started showing up at fanfests the moment XV seemed to be dying? and was there to promote BLU(with a costume that didn't even match the in game model)Wasn't sure if this had been posted here yet, and I thought we needed another topic about male viera:

This is all on Yoshi. :v Can't say it was the result of Matsuno wanting to preserve the lore or anything like that. I knew my boy Matsuno wouldn't do me like that and people shouldn't have been trying to shift the blame onto him. So let's spare Matsuno our wrath.
I'm actually gonna agree with this, I think it was a higher-ups decision rather than the team at large. I would've also speculated they were trying something different as well, but the higher ups getting more involved seems to be the case seeing as we are only getting two classes one being a tank and one being a DPS, rather than the third being a healing class, it makes me feel like they are being rushed to get Shadowbringers out as soon as possible. But we will see, I'm still looking forward to the expansion.I wouldn't blame yoshida, honestly I'm more suspicious of the CEO who has had a hand in both XV and KH 3 being borderline extended DEMO's of games. Born to lose, Live to win.
RIP Ian "Lemmy" Kilmister
The issue is that if it is a higher up, then the only option we have is the one we're taking. We can't possibly know, so we have to pressure the person we know has the most authority so they can redirect that pressure to the one who has ultimate authority over them.
That's what I was thinking. If the dev team really tried to make it happen but couldn't due to the higher-ups, they probably expected this backlash and could use it to sort of force their hand. But that's in the best case scenario if they really want to bother undoing the genderlock.
This issue is that this has been a problem with square recently, I think around since Yosuke Matsuda took over as CEO. I know he made several statements about wanting to produce games that rank highly in western markets and a lot of the trends recent games have been taking, feeling of being rushed but fixed with DLC(KH 3 is a BIG boy here) might be due to a change in his business strategy. I wouldn't put it past them to delay male and female viera's until 6.0 just to drum up hype about it.
The game is already kinda popular over here. That isn't drumming up hype its just annoying as hell and a shady practice. This issue is that this has been a problem with square recently, I think around since Yosuke Matsuda took over as CEO. "Devs respond to outcry of more inclusive races in a bold move that solidifies the XIV dev team as truly being aware of their fanbases needs" something like that to an extent, again just a tin foil hat but I wouldn't put it past them.
That or they'll go the XI route and just write themselves further into a lore corner and never release them.
Thank you. I thought it could be a legit reason but its good to see Matsuno shining light on the matter.Wasn't sure if this had been posted here yet, and I thought we needed another topic about male viera:
