If there is any lesson to learn here it's that the overwhelming majority of the FFXIV is not ok with being given "WoW style" races in regards to them releasing with a severely limited amount of cosmetic options. FFXIV players do not want allied races, which is already being generous in referring to the initial launch state of these two races. A game like WoW where people have 10 alts can get away with having so many restrictions on character customization, but that just isn't the case here.
FFXIV players want things that they can go all out with, down to the last detail and for obvious reasons they want to be able to use the hard-earned hairstyles and headgear they've collected over the years on their usually *singular* main characters. How they didn't realize this early on will forever remain a mystery to me. Given this situation, there is no sustainable way to go about adding new races without significant restrictions so it would be a sound decision to not add any more after female Hrothgar are released.
Ideally, I would like for them to release with the 7.0 graphics update so we have a product that looks good right from the start of their reveal. I especially want them to have the dreadlocks hairstyle that Viera recently got access too, along with some of long hairstyles of their own. Oh, and please do not tie faces to specific hairstyles. Make a base head shape that won't cause trouble for adding hairs, then alter the viscerocranium (face) according to each "cat" species Hrothgar faces are based off. Work smarter not harder.
In regards to the above artwork, while the face does not look too bad and falls in line with what can be expected off female Hrothgar (though all Hrothgar fangs come from above, not below), the proportions are still significantly too large. One thing is a heroine's athletic build, another is one that simply doesn't fit in FFXIV's armor sets. It is one thing to have defined biceps while maintaining reasonable build size, it is another for them to be as enlarged as they are in the picture.
