Female Hrothgar as a playable race. Show your support!

As a queer who would love to be crushed by a beautiful roegadyn woman, I have to admit that I don't really see how reusing the femroe frame for (theoretical) hrothgar women would be a disservice. It's not as though they have the exact same huge barrel chest and squat legs of the men.

Which, while I understand the want for female hroth to have minimal sexual dimorphism in a game that's really atrocious about it and would not mind such... But, speaking honestly, as much as I love my character I really hate how I have to fight to get a lot of glamours looking okay on him because of the above features, lmao.

It feels kind of cheap when you see two characters of two different races standing next to each other and you realise one is just the other with fur. However I understand why they do it, and it is probably why Hrothgar are hunched over a bit.

I'm not sure what you consider extreme or atrocious but at least every M/F pair we have so far looks like they are from the same species. There are games out there where the Male is very bestial and the female is a human with different ears and a tail, like taking a Male Hrothgar and Female Miqo'te and calling that a race. It's an interesting idea, but that isn't why they do it. In FFXIV If someone wants a pretty human or almost human girl they got plenty of those options.

the main reason why i play viera is because it's the only race where i can make my character look the least human with ears as possible with all the skin shade varieties they have , i also don't like playing male characters or i would've played male hrothgar .
i really don't care how restricted they are going to be at this point , i got used to that by playing viera for so long ,
squarenix can you let me play a beastly looking character in my favourite mmo please ?

During the Valentine/Little Ladies crossover event, when the Songbirds showed up. I was thinking, "wouldn't it be stupid if female hrothgar was flat faced and jpop bait JUST so they could do a seasonal quest where they have one join the songbirds as a permanent member AKB48 style?". In the end, my issue with FF14's dimorphism has to do with how all the women options do end up being cute or attractive in some form. Roegadyn women might not be popular, but the fact of the matter is that they do not have the huge, exaggerated barrel shape the men do. To say nothing of the Au ra, where we have huge, fierce looking men and the women are dainty and half their size. And as mentioned in the thread, women options in general do not allow the WoL to be middle aged or older. (If you're an NPC, then there's a grandma face, I guess.)

Some of us just want variety that doesn't still fall into 'hot jrpg babe'!! And since we're dealing with a beastly race, a concern is that they'll make the women... very human (on top of the rest), in an already very human lineup, because to be otherwise isn't attractive.




But if female hrothgar can avoid this concept (that FF14 already barely dodged)... I won't have a fit, haha.

Is it not simply two sides of the same coin? I can't help but note that many of those wanting female hrothgar to not be designed as being conventionally attractive...actually find aesthetics that are not conventional to be attractive.

What's interesting about Au Ra women concept art is that they were originally more demonic in appearance. Which is why when the finalised design for them was revealed... it just disappointed me.



So yeah. Again, I hope the female Hrothgar are given the same treatment as the males.

Then reality set in as we saw the end result and I too was very disappointed. They could have been as fierce looking as the males, maybe even more so! They should have been.

Probably! Personally, I just don't find a lot of variety in the options available, especially to women, in FF14; Outside of lalafell, they're all very human-shaped on top of being young and pretty.

Also generally I just expect the women of a lion people to at least look somewhat tough and imposing. (Like, strong enough to take down a horse??)

In the end, it's out of our hands! Who knows! I am just a simple creature who thinks it would be nice if I could play a funny animal that reflects my own gender, but also it would be rad if I could make her look like she'd be able to easily rip my throat out with her teeth.

Umm.. Okay? To me (and most others), female Roe are closer to the male sex than female. That's why. They look terrible. Female hrothgar would already fill a niche for players who want a female beast race, if they actually decided to utilize femroe, it would most definitely make femhroth also look terrible, frankly. The queen(s) from Bozja look MUCH better with their custom body, than a regular femroe. People who want to be "crushed" ... or whatever... already have femroe.

Also, I don't want them to look like humans either. They should be a beast race just like male hrothgar, rather than miqo'te 2.0, in my opinion. Just no femroe body, that would be a shame.
