only getting 95% of what we're paying for.

Correct me if I'm wrong but is housing not part of the game? If so then why are we paying for something that 90% of us can't access? On the Mateus server all plots are owned. Several by the same person, yet housing is not sold separately, it's not additional content that you pay extra for.... Is it something that can be accessed without a subscription? Do people with housing pay more for their subscription?

It honestly is becoming a deal breaker. To make matters worse when they implement a new housing area who has faster access to that housing? People with houses already..... If you don't own one you have to wait for some invisible timer that people with houses already don't have to wait for?

I'm not sure if this is a cultural thing or if SE has just completely lost their minds, but I'm stopping payment on the pre-order until this is fixed. I honestly can't justify paying the exact same amount of money and getting less content. It isn't fair and what's worse is I would gladly pay 20 dollars for a housing plot.

It's a part of the game but I can't say it's a huge part of it. Yes, there's submarines/airships, which are mainly for more housing things. It's a very self-contained tidbit of content. The main point people get houses is for decorating, which you can do with FC rooms if your FC has a house or with an apartment.

I know housing can be a big deal for folks, but I wouldn't even say it's 5% of the content available in the game. I honestly don't get why folks would deny themselves 99% of the content the game offers and fixate on this 1%. If you wanna push it, maybe it's 2%, but I only say that because crafting housing items is a market game in itself, but that you can join and reap the monetary benefits.

So you'd be ok if someone sold you a car for the exact same amount of money but didn't include a windshield? Or better yet they include the windshield for some of their customers but you? No you don't get one. BUT you'll pay the same amount of money?

The windshield is essential for the car to function correctly. Without it the rain, dust and debris from rough terrain would blind you, which is obviously very dangerous.

I love housing but nothing relies on it to function properly. Not having a house doesn't make it more dangerous, difficult or impossible to raid, do quests, glam etc.

It would be more like buying a car without a radio. You don't need the radio for the car to work properly, but it's nice to have and most people want one.

Well... It's not broken in the first place, so there's nothing to "fix". Ward housing is meant to be a limited resource. It's exclusive, so not everyone will have it - This is by design.

You have access to an apartment and an FC room. So for your BS example of windshield, you have a roof over your head and 4 walls in this game.

The difference is, you want a luxury vehicle instead of a basic one and are complaining about that. Not all cars are going to have the luxury options and backup cameras and whatever else. But they function. Buy an apartment if you feel your sub money isn't getting used.

Initially? It depends on the rules they'll have active on the housing area opening. Thus far that has been whoever has the gil and manages to get through the queue unscathed. They did add a different ruleset for the ward expansion though, so we'll have to see what their plans are. If Ishgard is getting housing, we won't be likely to see it for months after the launch of the expansion as they'll want to milk the rebuilding effort.

That doesn't apply in the least bit, as some others have shown. Housing is not a fundamental aspect of the game to keep it working--it doesn't bar you from the other 99% of the content you're putting aside. I'm not going to deny that the people with housing, be it a house or apartment, thoroughly enjoy decorating and produce some high end results and that's a big part of their motivation of play, but it's not enough for SE to "fix it" when there is the rest of the game they're focusing on. Housing has always been the fourth or so thing they've looked at, even when it comes to glitch repairs and slight changes. If they ever do change the system, it'll be long after battle/gameplay/crafting/questing. Not enough people are going to "stop payment on the pre-order" or even their sub to warrant SE's attention to be like "Oh, maybe we should spend more resources on this minority recreation." And by that I mean, it's a minority recreation because it only counts as a tiny bit of content.

If you wanna use your windshield example, it'd be more like I'm buying a car without tinting on the windshield. Is it nice? Hell yes. Do I need it to use the car? No.

So many of you are defending this.. The old republic, a F2P mmo, makes housing available for everyone. Even F2P players. You just have to earn it not be a chosen few people who have access to something, in some cases multiples of something. Like Moon on Mateus has 12 houses. While 90% of the server can't even get 1. In fact I can't think of any modern large scale MMO that does things the way square does? Why? They realize that if the advertise housing as a selling point then limit it to only 10% of their customers.... They'd get called out for their stupidity.

I see this a lot in my line of work. Companies promote one thing then totally switch it up after they have your money. They get away with supplying a sub standard product because of the people addicted to their product. How hard is it to see when you're in an abusive relationship? SE is abusing you, getting away with it and you just keep coming back for more. This was an issue when HW released, years later is it fixed? NO. Why? SE isn't losing money over it.

I may be the only person willing to quit paying for the game for a few months to make things better for everyone else. I have other things to occupy my time. The old republic, ESO, etc. SE isn't the only dealer in town to scratch my MMO itch on. But by all means continue to defend you're abusive relationship and keep making it harder for everyone else to enjoy ALL the content they're paying for.

Housing does not mean only house. Housing includes apartments and FC rooms, not just houses. They're all personal spaces for you to decorate.

Last I heard, there was no problem getting an apartment on any server.

You also had the option to choose to play on a server where houses were available if you wanted more than an apartment. You chose Mateus instead.

You're being overly dramatic when you call this an abusive relationship. Stop it. Or go ahead and quit if you want. Go scratch your itch with another MMO if FFXIV isn't satisfying you.

The truth is you've done this to yourself by expecting everything to be catered to you the way you want without you having to make meaningful choice to get what's most important to you. Start taking responsibility for your choices and the consequences from those choices.

Next month, the free transfer period opens up for NA servers. IF you want a house that badly, leave Mateus and go a world that will have housing available once all the players who bought up housing just to to get their free 3 million gil transfer bonus leave. We had over 600 house availables on Coeurl back in October before the gil giveaway was announced and I expect at least half that number to become available again during the free transfer period as people move to stay with their friends on the Aether servers.

There's your chance to get a house at last. Will you take it, or will you once again play the victim card?
