Let me say this. Glamour and races may not matter to you. Congrats. It matters to a lot of other people though and you don’t have the right to make them feel like trash.
That is a lot of assumption and generalization. Yes, we've seen some of that in posts, from both sides. But at the same time, there have been less emotional and more logical reasons why people are "okay" with gender locked races. Personally, I was neither for or against it. I was fine with having male Viera, and I'd be fine with having female Ronso. I care a little with how they'd look if they do add them, but not enough to make me lose sleep over it if they're not the way I envisioned them.

However, when I see posts like yours, it makes me question motives. You come across as the one with an agenda, and something to prove. While many of the people that allegedly "white knight SE," are more or less just saying they're fine with whatever the devs decide. You may call that complacency. I'd call it contentment. Some of you seem intent on making this game into a political/sociological statement, while the rest of us just want to play a game.

Every game has issues, and the devs can NEVER please everyone. Most people accept that. I think too many people get attached to games (MMOs in particular), and start feeling their characters are representative of themselves. So they bring all of the world issues into an "escapist" game along with their character. Some of these issues can be addressed by work-arounds, while some cannot. But at the end of the day, it's just a game.

Which brings me to the second part I quoted. Glamour matters to you. That's fine. But it doesn't prevent you from playing the entirety of the game. In other words, it doesn't change the game. That's what the "other side" is saying quite frequently. This Viera/Ronso issue hasn't effected how you have played the game up to this point in time, so they find it hard to sympathize with the take-my-ball-and-go-home "I quit" threads.

Instead of "quitting" or "boycotting" try a more constructive way of expressing your wishes and desires. Maybe you can convince the devs to change course later. Like, maybe a side story can change things in world, and allow those other genders to be introduced later. Right now, everything has been decided up to probably 6.0 and beyond. They can't just "add them in" tomorrow. It will take time. Demanding they delay an expansion, and take a hit to their income? Telling them you refuse to support them unless they do things your way? How does that fix things? I'll answer for you: It doesn't.

I don't mind it when people voice their opinions. That's partially what forums are for, as well as a plethora of other things.

However, I do take offense for when a group of players hold their opinions and fetishes above what a creator of something, like a game, designs and begins to try and assert that their payment to have access to this product overrides design choices. That their money and choices mean more than the product that was intended to be a certain way. That the integrity of the product is second to the whims of the customer. A select group of customers at that. There is a stark difference between voicing discontent and ranting. It also doesn't look great to call another side a "white knight" for citing illogical missteps that have fed into why some players feel even more upset over the design choices. A white knight defends something mindlessly, even when they are clearly in the wrong. It sounds like a strawman to say anyone who doesn't agree with the sentiment is a white knight.

It is fine if a look of a character simply cannot be overlooked and you cannot enjoy the game for that reason. That is completely reasonable and I cannot fault players for not wanting to continue to play. However, threatening and enacting the withholding of funds to push a desire that is unwanted by the creators - that's a different story. There is a difference between feedback and pushing a desire. Feedback, in particular to this topic, would be asking why did the team think it was necessary for creating two genderlocked races instead of adding both males and females of one new race. Feedback would include citing Miqo'te of the current version of XIV (as opposed to mentioning 1.0) that while males are rarer than females, when you account for NPCs, since you can't control what race and gender players will pick, would it not suffice to allow both male and female Viera or Hrothgar PCs as long as the NPC count remains true to the lore. As players should be counted among "game mechanics" and not "lore."

Instead, no attempt of discussion was made. Only demands and threats.

Both side of this argument can use a couple truck loads of civility.

Personally, the gender locked races mean nothing to me, since I am Au Ra and proud. I will not be changing(unless there is a true dragon race that comes out...then I would have to take a look at it and decide then, but I digress...). I would honestly have prefered if they used their resources to create UNIQUE(not reskin/name/colour) gear, or a new healer(though if the screenshot I saw is any indication, they are working on BALANCING the 3 healers we have rather than creating something new and then trying to balance 4).

The people that wanted Male Viera are handling this very poorly however. You can be upset about it, but you shouldn't go around stomping your feet and yelling that Yoshi P is sexist and ruining this game. Also people claiming this is a half arsed job, when Yoshi P promised that the two new races will have a lot of unique customization unique to them and not the previous races. I think plenty of time has went into them. Just because people think they did a half arsed job doesn't mean its true.

That's just my opinion on it.

Brings a tear to my eye and a sparkle of hope when I see the capability to discuss like this still possible <3 +1

You were racist to Hrothgars. That is an unacceptable behavior here.

Let me say this. Glamour and races may not matter to you. Congrats. It matters to a lot of other people though and you don’t have the right to make them feel like trash. Attacks have been flung at people who wanted male Viera due to sexuality, masculinity/feminity, etc. These comments are vicious and have no place here. The true sexism and homophobia is coming from the people making these comments, along with whoever decided to go through with the gender locks.

Also, me and many others have canceled our subscriptions over this gender lock. The people telling us to stay gone are a plague on this community and their complacency will only let more and more bad decisions to go by without positive and negative feedback. This forum is not only for saying “Yay I’m happy!” We have the right to voice our discontent on here too, and telling us to go and stay gone makes you look like a tremendously uncaring person.

Lastly, let’s discuss threats. Telling me that “natural selection should come for me” in response to my posts in the Gender Lock thread is not an acceptable way to argue pro-gender lock points. That comment was so extreme that I’m surprised the poster is not banned when I have been banned for less. That is the kind of homophobia and extremism that results in hate crimes in real life, and I demand that action be taken against such behavior now.

Sorry this is so long, but since I apparently can still post for the time being I’m going to use what remaining power I have left to call everyone out on their insane behavior. Instead of turning on each other, the anger should be directed at whoever decided this was an acceptable decision since it has completely ruptured an already damaged community in the wake of other bad decisions like Limited Jobs and Eureka.
To be honest Gender lock is never a good thing overall, but for Final Fantasy XIV I do not think they should do this for their last race in the game. This is not the best way to give back to your fans after all they did to support it. Respect them for praising your game and if they want this concept to happen and you know it will be a positive in the end. They should do it and I am curious how the other gender would look in the game. If it looks good I would not mind subbing to play one myself. These are important times to see if they do love their fans all the way or not. For me I do not like gender lock because it just kills creativity.
