yes dps REALLY did. we only have two range classes. dps or no, they deserve options too. Some people like range only classes. Healers has 3 range had 2...so range wins this round.

It would make more sense to add a healer now, and then next expansion add a range dps and a caster dps.
Pre-expansion
Tank: DPS: Healer
3:9:3 (1:3:1)
Melee:Ranged:Caster
4:2:3
Post-expansion
Tank: DPS:Healer
4:10:3
Melee:Ranged:Caster
4:3:3
Dancer Healer
4:9:4
DPS
4:2:3
Not counting Blue Mage
Thinking of it another way
Tank/Healer: DPS
Pre - 6:9 (2:3)
Post - 7:10
Dancer healer - 8:9
Adding Ranged DPS instead of a healer is just mathematically worse, when trying to balance the ratios.
Personally I can live without a new healer for now with dancer as a range dps, just as long as it's good. But it does seem pretty clear which would have been the more optimal choice.

People is assuming that Lions and Rabbits will be Male/Female locked FOR EVER and maybe...just maybe, its not true...
We could get Female Lions and Male Rabbits for 6.0, 7.0 or whatever...

Maybe...
We could... Get them.
Or, we could not.
That's the thing. We don't know. There was no hint that they might be working on the other gender.
You can't react in expectation of an uncertainty. You can't be okay about something you don't like because maybe it could be fixed in the future.
For all we know, they might never get the second gender for those races. We might get new gender locked races. We just don't know.

FINALLY a 3rd physical range dps. I'm a physical range Dps main since ARR, so I'm excited about it. True, we have a lot of dps but I'm not a melee or magic dps player. Kinda boring to only choose 2 physical range dps for 6 years. The only thing I'm not ok with, is gender lock race.. Other than that I'm super hype.
Right now I'm wondering what Gaia job is? Just like Yugiri it maybe a hint for a possible future job for a hammer wielder. SE sure knows how to left us hanging again.

I like all the announcements, but to be honest i wish we would get 3 jobs again like heavensward and everyone could be happy.
Having looked into the japanese forums out of curiosity, theres like... one thread about this. Most of them are ok with it, some say they're disappointed and simply hope that in the future we will see the other two genders of both races. Really we should just be the same, instead of getting angry just wait and see what happens. A lot of time/money has to go into these models and they do have a time limit from the company to get this stuff out after all.

Most of the posters in that thread are not okay with it. Supposedly most of the Japanese complaints are on Twitter.Having looked into the japanese forums out of curiosity, theres like... one thread about this. I am happy with Genderlocked races. FFXII Lore, female Viera's only. Since it's all connected through Ivalice, then it's all cannon. I am hyped for Lion Men! I would never have played a rabbit guy.

I'm definitely not thrilled about either of these decisions, personally I would've preferred some creativity in a brand new race available to both genders that wasn't viera & ronso. I would've liked a long overdue healer rather than yet another DPS. But SE let me down on both points, as they often have been all throughout Stormblood, so it's something I'm used to at this point. There are other things I'm looking forward to, so I'm not going to flip the table and start making hate threads about quitting over it.
Kinda stoked for that YoRHa raid.
