It's not so much that they aren't happy with what they are given they just don't want to be content with what they have and want to make the game the best it can be.

On another note, it makes eternal bonding even more confusing IMO. Basically they're saying their species counterparts don't want to even want to bond with them, but yet the adventurer has to go and find a partner that may not even be their kind because their counterpart must stay hidden. If they were going to bond it will be forced with the same gender.
That is not to say same sex is bad at all, but I think it's funny to see that there will be forced same sex bondings of the same race. Odd turn these days, no?
I'll add one more. Since lore seems to be very important now, they need to revert the 1.2 patch that removed fire/lightning/ice spells from Conjurer and gave them to THM. There were no lore reason behind this, it was just done one patch to the next.
Viera look like elezen with bunny ears, but since they're a fan favourite no one says anything. Plus, unless I'm mistaken did yoshi explicitly state that Male Viera would be a thing or was the fanbase projecting?
They don't look Elezen, they look tall but they definitely don't have the really awkward necks. Tall =/= Elezen
He said back in 2013 that he didn't like the idea, which is part of why HW had au ra instead despite viera being so highly requested. He seems to have stuck to his guns in that regard.
in the end when people give actual feedback to this game instead of crying like a baby and quitting the game over it...things happen....i seen you came back b4 so u couldnt even leave properly...lol so i hope you are faking your excitement for this since u got what u want ya baby
Yoshi didn't explicitly state anything about Male Viera.
Which is part of what lead to the expectation.
When asked about Male Viera at EU Fan Fest instead of outright saying "We currently have no plans to implement Male Viera" Yoshi said "Wait until next Fan Fest!" - Which is his usual way of saying "Yes, but we're not revealing it yet"
They also previously released concept art of Male Viera:
To finish things off, back when Miqo'te and Roe's were challenged about being genderlocked and subsequently changed to have both genders as playable characters, it was stated that they wouldn't do gender locked races again.
With, so far, the only notable evidence against the idea of Male Viera is a single quote from Yoshida back in 2013 when he said he didn't particularly like the idea of Male Viera (Due to the fact that "Bunny males might be weird" - Not because lore, not because lack of rights to Viera. But because they might be "Weird". Which strikes me as the same homophobic stance as "We don't want to add bunny suits for males because it makes us uncomfortable to work on")
So... You might argue that this is a case of "When you assume, you make an ass out of u and me"
But at the same time, Yoshida never explicitly stated his stance and has a history of using diversionary tactics to hand wave away questions about something until the big reveal.
Since Viera are established in the Final Fantasy games already, Yoshi-P may not have even had a choice in the matter.
Even if we did, we got an entirely different race, which is awesome, and adds a lot of variety to the world when people chose to play these.

13...years ago... and FFXIV is their take on it, which honestly could have been anything especially since that's what happened in tactics and not just 12.
