Since Lore Suddenly Matters

Here is my list of demands to make the game more lore friendly and immersive in wake of the rekindled adherence to storytelling and world building:

1. Limit players who are White Mages to 1 per Server.

2. Limit players who are Dragoons to 1 per Server.

3. Remove the retainer system.

4. Remove the glamour and fantasia systems from the game.

5. Once someone completes a dungeon, do not allow them to re-enter.

6. Forcibly race change Miqote males to other races in order to adhere to the lore of them being more rare than females, and restrict their future creation.

7. Limit the Dancer job to females only.

8. Remove all magic wielding Garlean enemies from the game, including those who fight in instanced battles in ARR.

9. Prohibit all Lalafell characters from accessing melee dps and tank jobs, and penalize their physical stats. Remove Pipin and Alka Zolka from the storyline as well.

10. Penalize the magic stats of Roegadyn players while increasing their vitality and strength.

11. Remove non-canon houses from the wards, including Shirogane houses being built in Mist for example, along with Moogle, Paissa, and Carbuncle houses.

12. Remove the bunny outfit, Sabotender weapons, Fenrir mount, Typhon mount, and other Gold Saucer glamour items.

13. Delete all Yokai event items, including minions and mounts, from each player’s inventory.

14. Delete the FFXV crossover event, since cars have no place in Eorzea.

15. Delete the fat cat, fat moogle, Fenrir motorcycle, whale mount, and other cash shop items that contradict the core fantasy lore of the game.

16. Realize that all of the above is ridiculous nonsense and that this game does not pay attention to lore at all, so stop using it as an excuse for attacking people who wanted male Viera and female Hrothgar.

I mean, it's kinda crazy people expected two new races, with both genders and for those races and genders to both have two different clans. It's actually less about the lore and more about development time. I'm expecting the opposite gendered counterparts to be added in 6.0.

Agreed. I might come back to 6.0 then. However let's be honest if they hadn't wasted so much time adding massively disliked content like limited jobs and Eureka's Baldesion Arsenal then they would have had more than enough time to design the full races. They gambled and they lost.

There is no evidence to suggest that if they dropped those things that they would have been able to complete other gender on these races and frankly, I think it's silly to suggest that it is. Simply because you didn't enjoy the content in question doesn't make it 'waste of time'.

That argument is specious at best.

They did not have to make the Hrothgar to begin with and could have stuck with one race with more options. No one forced their hand at making 2 gender locked races, and one race looking like a modified Roegadyn with lower looking overall textures than the hair of the new race (where it looks like they got more development time on making their hair).

It's upsetting that for whatever reason they needed to stick with lore reasons from a game 13 years old and continue that ideal than take a fresh take on the idea in this MMO.

There have been many arguments that SE needs to really understand their biggest markets as well as international ones. They have participated in LBGT events, and yet they go back to tropes that no one wants persistent in games anymore.

They went through all that trouble to update their TOS on how they take actions on behavior then go back 4 steps in their thought process on how to develop characters/races for this game.

I get that game development isn't easy. That wasn't the problem here as they already had concept art since Heavensward showing that Male Viera were an option. Yes some of that went to the Au Ra but that does not mean there was no ideas left for male viera.

Also, why assume everything needs only male or only female? Why not one being Asexual with different body types instead of a stereotype? Personally, I would have been completely content if the Hrothgar were asexual with different body types. Instead, it feels like the obvious Male Roegadyn skeleton (and mind you they have a somewhat lion like nose already). With more focus on the customization of their head.

Honestly, my thought is... Why didn't they create 1 FULL race now and then release the other FULL race in 6.0?

That way they can hype up both expansions with "Wow NEW Playable Race!!!"

As opposed to this current method of "Wow 2 halves of a playable race!" with maybe the other half being implemented later.

Like, they HAD to know they'd get backlash for half-assing the races and implementing the gender-locked versions, because they did literally the last time they tried to do it.

So, why go through with it?

I'm 99% sure that if they only revealed a single playable race that had both genders, they'd get nothing but praise and excitement. BOTH times.

But instead they decide to go the way that has inevitable backlash.

I didn't expect two full races. I think they should have made ONE full race instead of two halves.
