Wow just wow. First you complain that its homophobic and now its sexist. I think you should learn to understand that not everyone and everything in this world goes the way you want and that this isn't homophobic or sexist just because you said so.

After reading his comments full of hate and resentment, I can't help it but to think he needs to take a break. He's just throwing buzzwords without even knowing the full thing.

Another likely cause is that viera were created by Matsuno, used by him for Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, Final Fantasy XII, and the rest of the subsequent Ivalice Alliance games, before he wrote one into his Final Fantasy XIV scenario. Players have been clamoring to play viera and Matsuno allows it under the caveat that they don't use male viera since that's his artistic decision. SE goes ahead and implements them, along with male only beast-race to balance it out since players had also asked for that when we were polled back in the day.

And this is a completely legit and valid reason.

.... Isn't it like way more likely that they didn't have the time or resources to fix/fine-tune job, add and balance new jobs, and complete working models for the opposite sexes for the new races and instead relied on reusing older assets from previous titles and teams....

Like, why does no one seem to remember just like how messed up some of the jobs were in HW and just how unhappy players were about the new mechanics and abilities were. Seriously, this whole thing is like nothing new, and obviously will totally get to fixing it later like bard. They totally hear everyone, ok

Personally I don't think they should have added two full race. They should have just made male viera and not made Hrothgar IMO. Rather than repeating the miqo/roe/highlander thing from 1.0 and leaving gaps.

They already adjust lore on a whim... Genderlocking Hrothgar to female when they exist in FF X is a perfect example. Will be interesting to see the lore behind the flying car mount that’s coming in a few months lol.

Because they are Hrothgar, the First shard name is an easter egg, an homage, that's why they choose to call them Hrothgar in our shard and not Ronso because that's not the same race.

that's not lore, that's logic and practicality. there's no story specifically written behind why Carpenters can't use Fire IV. the absence of lore is not lore.

It is lore. In no FF game has a CRP just start casting fire on everything nor has male Viera been a playable character or even really seen. It's adds depth to the race as a whole. It gives the female characters story that would not otherwise exist. It is in the lore that males do not reveal themselves to others. You say common sense for Fire IV, but it is also common sense to create a story.

making a whole new second genderlocked race is much more work than simply adding the other gender to a race alreayd in developpement. they now have to create double the lore, double the everything.

No it's not. A new gender for a race is essentially a new race in itself. Look at how different all of the current races are gender-wise. Sure, you have the midlander hyur and the lalafells where the differences are minor, but then look at the highlander hyur, roegadyn and au ra.

Writing more lore isn't really taxing, most of the effort comes in making the new models and animations.
